:wtf:
http://www.delawareonline.com/newsjournal/opinion/letters/09152004.htmlPopulation and crime rates don't match
Almost every household in South Dakota legally owns at least one gun. In Washington, D.C., gun ownership is illegal. Both populations are about 700,000. Yet Washington's crime rate is nine times higher than South Dakota's, and its murder rate is 36 times higher. This is in spite of the fact that Washington's police force is five times the size of South Dakota's.
Guns don't equal crime. Criminals equal crime.
Sens. Ted Kennedy and John Kerry's ludicrous arguments that gun bans make the country safer have been soundly disproved. They simply make crimes easier, make law-abiding citizens defenseless prey, and give criminals the upper hand. Criminals never have any problem acquiring guns. Only the honest citizens do.HEY IDIOT
Instead of considering population, why don't you consider THE FREAKING SIZE OF THE AREA CONTAINING THE POPULATION!!!! 700,000 people aren't crammed into a 5mile radius in South Dakota. Heck there are folks who live in homes in South Dakota that would have to drive further than the distance from one end of DC to the other until they see their next neighbor.
PLUS, have you considered that most of the guns owned by folks in South Dakota are for hunting?? The only wild game found in DC are all in Zoos and they Zoo officials don't appreciate you hunting there!!
