I saw Collateral this afternoon, and for a Hollywood action movie, I thought that it was particularly well-written and acted. It is a guy movie for guys who like their action mixed with existentialism.

Plus, I'm a sucker for the whole Hamlet thing. I give in ***1/2 stars out of four.

1. everything about the movie
was good... EXCEPT THE MUSIC.

god the music was just awful in some places. like the part when he starts driving really fast, and some generic Creed-like rock song came on and it was completely inappropriate for the scene.

took me straight out of the movie.

3. I have to agree with you there.
The jazz was OK, though.

Extraordinary movie. I forgive Cruise all his other craptacular failures for his rendition of Ron Kovic.

6. I forgot about that one.
That is a great movie. And I also love "Magnolia".

So I guess I'm full of shit about this whole Tom Cruise thing. :D

7. Agree
Anyone who complains that Cruise can't act hasn't seen it.

8. Now that you've mentioned him, I' ve got some earworms. . .
over a few lines from the movie Top Gun. Specifically, the lines from the character played by Val Kilmer (to TC):

"...you're everyone's problem. That's because every time you go up in the air you are unsafe. You're dangerous..."

AND

"...it's your attitude. The enemy's dangerous, but right now, you're worse than the enemy. You're dangerous and foolish..."

(I keep thinking of B*sh when I hear these lines)

:nuke:

9. What whole Hamlet thing?
Is it a takeoff of Hamlet? I'm sorry to say I don't know much about this movie.

10. he was the only thing in Magnolia that I liked
I LOVED the scene during the interview with the female journalist who's discovered that his purported past, upon which he's built his self-help guru empire, is all a lie, and he just sits there and stares at her for the last 11 minutes of the interview.

I also loved his performance in The Last Samurai.

He seems to do well with very wounded men. I want to see collateral too, I've read that Jamie Foxx, one of my favorite underused actors, is phenominal as well.
