A question for DU pilots?
How does a nine year old girl get jet plane flight credientials? Saw on Sunday morning tv. This girl beat her own record by taking a russian mig up to around mach1.3. She is also qualified on US jets and some WW2 error planes.

:wtf: and where do I sign up

7. Are there any age rules?
IS there anything that says she CAN'T qualify as a pilot?

9. Yes
For Canada (similar rules in any ICAO state):

Student Pilot Permit (solo, no passengers, each flight authorized by instructor): 14
Recreational Pilot Permit (max 4 seats, max 1 passenger, day VFR only): 16
Private Pilot Licence- Glider: 16
Private Pilot Licence- Aeroplane: 17
Commercial Pilot Licence- Aeroplane: 18

This applies to flying as pilot in command only. There is no age limit for dual instruction- it's at the instructor's sole discretion.

4. She might have been sitting left seat...
...and traditionally the pilot in charge of the plane sits there. I think that a person must be 18 years of age to get a license - not sure, tho, but maybe at least 16 years of age. I am betting she did not fly alone on this and sitting right seat was a fully licensed pilot/instructor who was the person actually in charge of the plane. Look at it this way: I could put my dog in the left seat and that does not mean he has a pilot's license or can fly the plane all alone. When you first learn to fly, you sit left seat, but trust me, the instuctor sitting right seat is the person in charge of the plane. If he/she says, "it's mine," you better take your hands off the yoke, pull your feet back and let the instructor have the plane.

8. No age limit unless you're solo
Don't know the exact rule for FAA, but in Canada the minimum age for a Student Pilot Permit (solo, no pax) is 14.
