WTF is wrong with people ?

I was out walking my dog, and these 2 dudes had their dogs offleash.
One was a Pit Bull, the other was a Pit Mix. The Mix comes at me and my dog, growling, and I look over at the dudes and say 'Could you please come get your dog?'

He stands there and says 'Aw he ain't gonna do nothing'
But my dog and I are terrified.
I say 'Well he sure doesn't look real gentle ...'

To which the dude says 'I said he won't do nothing, b*tch, sh'up'
To which I - now walking away - say 'You sh'up and GROW up'
To which he replies 'Aw you wanna get all stupid ? You wanna come
get somma this ? Come back here b*tch I'll show ya' whose in charge'

This idiot was ready to a fight (or shoot, or something) a 40 year old woman, over a comment about a dog ?? :wtf:

I'm seeing more and more behavior like this - at least in my city - from the age 15-25 generation of males. Why the need for such overbearing swagger ? What is wrong with our society ????

I'd like to know what they've done in their lives that would make them think that they're so tough.

2. Important things to know in this situation

1. Your city/county/state leash law;
2. Your Animal Ordinance, and specifics on "aggressive animals";
3. Who enforces the leash law/ordinance. Is it the cops or Animal Control?

If you encounter an aggressive dog with an even more aggressive handler, call the police and tell them you're doing so. The thought of having their (likely) unregistered, unvaccinated dog impounded, or receiving a citation might be enough to make them leave, dog in tow, or put a leash on that critter.

BTW, the overbearing swagger is due to the need to compensate for something. Likely something below the waist. Most of these idiots think, for some unknown reason, that they're the "gangsta" or "playa" they wish to embody. These are the same brats that piss their pants if someone actually DID pull a gun on them (or would do all they could to pull Air Natl. Guard duty to avoid real combat).

6. Thing is ...

I know items 1-3.
I also know that the apartment they were hanging by is the neighborhood drug dealer's. They don't give a rat's ass about the laws, because they're in that mindset that doing time makes them more of a man, and honestly they'd probably kill or abandon the dogs rather than get them lisenced or vaccinated.

They just don't give a shit about anything, and thats what really disturbs me the most.

Our next generation is full of angry young men who have no soul, who care for nothing ... its horrifying.

Just like in Abu Ghraib-lack of leadership has effects farther down the chain. People don't have anything to aspire to, so they don't bother to care.

5. Similar story...

I was jogging in a park in Buffalo years ago, when I saw two unleashed rottweilers up ahead of me running towards me. I stopped in my tracks, took the pepper spray I always carried with me out and held it up. I yelled at the guy that I assumed owned the dogs, to get them. He said "Oh there's nothing to worry about, they're just puppies. Please don't spray them." They were puppies, but they were gigantic puppies, and worse than adults since they were full of frenetic puppy energy.

I didn't really want to hurt them, so I didn't spray them when they kept coming at me, confident that the guy knew his dogs. Well, when the first one got to me, he lept up at my face and knocked his teeth against my eye, giving me one heck of a black eye and knocking me to the ground.

Finally the guy came over and got them, then walked away as I sat there holding my face. No apologies... no wondering if I was ok. Just walked away. I cursed at him until he was out of earshot.

Next time this happens, I spray first and ask questions later.
