Who else loved Bloom County?
I just referenced Bloom County in a post on the GD board and decided to start a thread on it over here. Berke Breathed was a true comedic genius -- the cartoon ended 15 years ago and I'll still think of one from time to time and start laughing. My brother and I even still quote Bloom County when we come home for Christmas (just so that our Mom thinks we've lost it).

4. My favorite? The story line that included all of the offended parties
when Opus was the ombudsman for the Bloom County Picayune.

"The Unshorn Sisters of the Apocalypse" were the ones offended when someone made fun of ladies who do not shave their legs.

I always thought that that would make a good name for an all-girl band....

5. One of my favorites...
Opus got his nose job and he kept drawing boxes of cereal suspended from the ceiling to conceal Opus' face and hide the nose job.

They finally interrupted a "cartoon" to explain what was going on. The first panel had Milo saying, "Hey Opus, did you hear the latest?" -- after two panels of explaining the concealing objects appearing all week, he wrote, "we now return you to your regularly scheduled cartoon, already in progress." The fourth panel had Opus screaming "Turnips! Turnips and Antifreeze!" and Milo answering "Not with Donny Osmond, He Wont!"

That might be the hardest I've ever laughed in my life. Those are the lines my brother and I still quote most often at home.

6. You bet'cha!
Loved (still love) Bloom County. The only comic I'd actually laugh out loud when reading. Still have all of the collections. Funny, topical stuff. :)
