Could someone help me?
I am new here at DU (and somewhat internet illeterate) and Skinner has given me permission to upload an image to use as my avatar. My problem is that he told me to use the avatar upload feature, only I cannot seem to find it. He also told me that if I need to have help in resizing it to ask for help with this here in the lounge.

Welcome to DU! :hi:
Go back out to the lounge and look along the top at all the little icons, there is one called Options. Click on that. There is a list on the left hand side. Click on "Edit your profile". The third option down is Avatar Image, thats the icon you see.

As for resizing I use Irfan View, its free and was recomended by people here. Once you have the image you want you can upload it in the Avatar Image section.

2. I just did that
Welcome to DU! I've been here about a week myself.

Go to your profile, in the box by the avatar there's a click-on line (that's very technical computer talk LOL)and click the one that says something about uploading your own image. Then then follow the instructions in the window that comes up. After you do that, enter the info that shows at the bottom of the little box where you started the avatar thing, then click update.

I know what I'm trying to tell you, I just hope you do.

Peace

8. A link on Bartcop
I was looking about the internet for a place where I could talk to people who share similar opinions and I saw the link on Bartcop, so I lurked about reading what was going on here and decided to register. I live in SC and there are only a few people here with whom I can talk freely about politics and the insanity of what is going on in our country and that illegal and immoral war in Iraq.
Some people here with whom I have mistakenly discussed politics have asked me, "Why don't you just leave?" Well I have decided to remain and try to make my corner of this backward region better. I know that I am spitting in the wind, but hey, this is my home and I must try; I just can't give up. So, I am always open to new ideas and and viewpoints, and I think I can find them here.

7. Unfortunately not...

Resizing the image to 48x48 is causing problems. I have a cloth patch which is 3.5 inches wide and 2.25 inches high of the logo. When I resize it, it blurrs. Could I e-mail it to you for resizing (if that is allowed here?) This logo is really cool: It is a black helmet with a white dove holding an olive branch in its mouth. Until I can get it right, I have selected a peace sign with "Veterans for Peace" next to it.

Here is our Statement of Purpose so you can know whom you are helping:

Veterans for Peace, Inc. (VFP) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational and humanitarian organization dedicated to the abolishment of war.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

We, having dutifully served our nation, do hereby affirm our greater responsibility to serve the cause of world peace. To this end we will work, with others

(a) Toward increasing public awareness of the costs of war.
(b) To restrain our government from intervening, overtly and covertly, in the internal affairs of other nations
(c) To end the arms race and to reduce and eventually eliminate nuclear weapons
(d) To seek justice for veterans and victims of war
(e) To abolish war as an instrument of national policy.

To achieve these goals, members of Veterans For Peace pledge to use non-violent means and to maintain an organization that is both democratic and open with the understanding that all members are trusted to act in the best interests of the group for the larger purpose of world peace.

Like Elvis Costello sang: "What's so funny about peace, love and understanding?"

9. First I like to say
Veterans For Peace sounds like a wonderful and long over due organization. I wish you the best of luck getting it going and I hope and pray that is catches on and is a big success.

Second, you have to have a certain amount of posts to email anyone. I don't know what the number is, but I've passed it.

Three, can you copy it on a copier (duh, huh? LOL) and keep reducing each copy? Then scan the reduced copy?

Peace
