McDonalds may soon outsource jobs???
Check this out...they've already "outsourced" a few drive-up window order-takers...

As she leaned out the window of her Chevy Blazer to place her order through a speaker box, Feld was greeted by the friendly voice of an order taker she thought was working inside.

“I assumed it was somebody in here,” Feld said, pointing to the restaurant only a few feet away.

Not even close.

Four states away in a Colorado Springs, Colo., call center, “Linda” recorded Feld’s order and flashed it onto a computer screen inside the kitchen of the Brainerd McDonald’s. Less than two minutes later, Feld drove away, a smile on her face and a burger in hand.

5. Exactly what I was thinking.
How bad are things that they are outsourcing McDonald's jobs? This is ridiculous. And this is supposed to help the economy?

7. I thought this was a joke...it is the lounge, after all.
but nooo. I guess they're trying to eliminate the job of that one person at the drive up window.

8. I heard that months ago. They do it in Fridley too.
Can't even get a McJoke of a job these days either. Sounds like they know of peak oil too...

9. That's not all they're looking into.
They're also researching touchscreen kiosks for ordering and moneychanging to go along with the "call center" based drive through window. I think the idea is to automate as much as possible so that a restaraunt can be run by two or three people instead of the current seven to ten.

10. Maybe it's time for the stockholders of McD's to sell it all.
I can never see that working. It's a customer service based business. Robots can't cut it.

12. It's a lot easier to discuss the "order mix-up" with
the person who mixed it up in the first place. Quite another thing to have an argument with a person looking at a screen saying, "sorry, can't help you, that's what they said you ordered!"
