I weather two hurricanes, lose the internet until today and come back
to find out Bush is ahead in the polls??!! Never mind, I'm back and ready to report for duty. Here is what I see and predict for Florida:

1) People in Florida are steaming over the high deductibles on their insurance policies. Since hurricane Andrew, deductibles are now 1 to 2% of the home's value. Even though the law was passed in Lawton Chiles' day, no one can question that it is another boon for the insurance business and people are not happy because they are beginning to realize that we've given away too much.

2) Reports that every community is coming together because of this crisis is bull crap. In my neighborhood, people have been so deviously Republican with their greedy control over the H.O.A. boards, that we just drive by curiously at their houses which were so devastatingly hit and don't bother to say hello. If they're going to be rugged individuals when times are good, they might as well continue when times are bad.

What were they thinking? If they spout their hatred against minorities when times are good, what made them think that we would trust them when supplies are rationed?

Got to run. Anyone else have comments or predictions of how this double crisis is going to affect the future of this state?

1. Happy you're Okay, Backlash!
Thanks for reporting for duty! I'm wondering if Florida will have it together in time for voting on Nov 2?

2. No problem.
They weren't going to run reliable elections before the two hurricanes, so what would be the difference now? ;-)
