Question for Drummers
I need a little research help. Maybe one of you knows this:

What is the technical term for "tapping a rhythm on the rim of the snare"?

1. Hmmmm.....
We used to say "clicks" for just tapping out the tempo of whatever we were playing....but as far as tapping a rhythm out....i don't think there's a technical term for that.

3. I'll ask my drum teacher for you
don't think he mentioned one... think it would just be keeping time... but there is probably some academic term for it...

5. Yes...
I was in drumline in HS and college...and I've been in a couple of bands (if they even qualify as that!)...but generally I play progressive rock and stuff like that. My favorite thing to do is just noodle around with my 4-track, my acoustic guitar, and my Roland V-drums. It takes my stress away.......

6. music is very good for that
it's partially how I managed to stay in my profession for so long. I'm a self-taught drummer who played in several post-punk bands, and I finally decided to invest in some lessons.
