2. It's beautiful
http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?McGuffin

McGuffin (aka: MacGuffin or maguffin) is a term for a PlotEnablingDevice, i.e. a device or plot element in a movie that is deliberately placed to catch the viewer's attention and/or drive the logic of the plot, but which actually serves no further purpose - it won't pop up again later, it won't explain the ending, it won't actually do anything except possibly distract you while you try to figure out its significance. More specifically, it is usually a mysterious package or superweapon or something that everyone in the story is chasing.

Possibly coined by AlfredHitchcock (see below). The perfect example is the "government secrets" that motivate the action in NorthByNorthwest (1959). Another typical McGuffin is the Maltese Falcon. It gets the characters together, pits them against each other, but turns out to be worthless.

3. "Ronin" is another great "What's in the case?" movie.
Not as good as "Pulp Fiction", but it does have Robert DeNiro and the best car chases ever.

10. Still the best car chase scenes I've ever seen.
Outdoes them all, Bullit, that Gone in 60 Seconds tripe, Bourne movies, Matrix Reloaded, Transporter - all of them are eclipsed by Ronin.

11. the Dead Pool
The diry harry movies go in order of quality sequentially.

What's up Doc pays homage to the Car chase in Bullit also. It's funny too. Funny when I was a kid, and funny now. Funny drunk, funny sober.

And the driving in Ronin is better than anything in Bullit. But Bullit was first, brilliant, and nothing like it had been seen before. (excuse the redundancy)

5. I never understood what was supposed to be so great about "Ronin"
I watched it and it was just sort of BLah!

Nothing special or even memorable. But that is just me-I saw "Hellraiser" and laughed all the way through it (Help Me! Will ya?!?) as it has to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen and the next thing I know there are freakin' SEQUELS!

8. Just sort of blah? Are you high?
That movie is awesome! It has amazing car chases, a plot that's complicated for the sake of being complicated, three actors that have played James Bond villains, and Robert freakin' DeNiro!

Oh well, I guess it is something of a "cult" movie now...
