Bob Dylan fans: Play "If Dogs Run Free" backwards. Seriously.
Play the song "If Dogs Run Free" from the "New Morning" album backwards, and the line that follows "oh winds that blow my hair to thee" which sounds like "Slow bear, slomth bee," well; backwards it says "If Mars Invades Us."

Absolutely true.

I did this many times as a kid and it kept me from sleeping a lot.

Just posted this in another thread, but thought others might get a kick out of it.

1. I've always wondered about this stuff....
Do you have a record player with a reverse gear?

Were you just playing all your records backwards and stumbled across this? Was there stuff in the song that didn't make sense backwards?

2. Actually, I was hipped to it
by a book that Rolling Stone put out called "Rock Almanac." In one entry, it talks about how some DJ in 1971 played the song backwards on the radio and revealed the secret. I was 8 when I read that, and utterly fascinated. Then I read about the "Paul is Dead" stuff and the supposed satanic backwards stuff in Led Zeppelin records. Since my dad had a great record cxollection, I was able to play all this stuff backward and hear it for myself. (His turntable had a "neutral" setting.)

I can see why someone hearing the song would wonder. That line is utterly unitelligible; it sounds like Bob was stuck for a rhyme and decided to babble "Slow bear slomth bee." But Bob is not a careless writer, and the syllables sounded very strange. This was around the time Dylan was being stalked by AJ Weberman, so I thiunk he was trying to have some fun with him and his "analysis" of Dylan's work. So when the DJ decided to play that part backwards, clear as day, you can hear "If Mars Invades Us." It was deliberately put there, for whatever reason.

I just had to hear that, so I copied that selection from the song, reversed and encoded it.

4. Wow!
On the turntable, it sounded clearer, but there you go. Thanks for that!

Play it forward, it makes no sense. "Slow bear, slomth bee?"

That is sweet.
