Is It Wrong To Have Nostalgia For The Cold War Days?
I just look back at that time with fondness. Everything seemed a lot more stable, you knew who your enemies were, the Olympics seemed more poignant (the old Soviet olympic hockey team was a blast to watch), and we seemed to have a national purpose.

1. Yeah, but you have the advantage of 20/20 hindsight.

2. No, Nostalgia is a good thing
I find myself, often, sitting back and remembering those good old days, when we had a Truly Elected, Intelligent President. Back when Jobs were plentiful, and even though we had a robust, thriving economy, we also had 8 solid years of peace.

Our Friends and Allies loved and respected us, and our President.

And Bush, well, that was just the clod that our Last Truly Elected President beat like a red headed step child.

But I now find myself remembering one key fact. Nostalgia can be a good thing, as it can help show what things can be again, as they have been before.

I look forward to the next few months, when once again we will have a Truly Elected President, who will once again bitch slap a clod named Bush, and send that Bush packing, along with all of his aging criminal Reagan retreads...

3. Nostalgia's a great whitewash
You remember the stuff like the 1980 hockey victory with fondness and none of the paranoia of having the crap nuked out of you.

6. Was never really afraid of the BIG BAD USSR
Remember that Howl a Minute flick..."Red Dawn?"

A movie playing out the quieter terror of what M.A.D. would probably look like was "Testament."
