Tried to get home - our house is completely cut off (flooding)
Actually, we were off this evening and got home at around 6:30pm. We were kinda woried about flooding at the store, as the creek next to the store was about 1 foot below the bottom of the road bridge, and if it got up to that bridge, I'm sure the water would start backing up behind it.

When we got home, large parts of the town were already closed off and heard that some folks had been evacuated. We up the hill from the creek and we could still get accross the bridges then. We arrived home to a foot of water in the basement - furnace standing in water (pilot light was on and is probably under water now, letting gas escape), water heater standing in water. We never had more than about 4 inches before.

We decided to come back into the city for a pump, and some sandbags (just in case) for the store. Dropped the sandbags off at the store and got back down to town around 10:00. The bridges had flooded over. The emer guys directing traffic told us to take a back road into town, but that was flooded too. There is no way to get to our house. So, we came back into the city, stopped off at wal-mart for a couple of pillows and some doughnuts, and we are camping out at the store tonight. Glad there's a futon couch in the breakroom. Hope the cats are OK, and the poor dog will miss us tonight I'm sure.

This is Perry county, OH and the news said we were in a state of emergency - no shit. I've never seen it this bad in the 7 years I've lived there.

AAARRRRGGGGHHHH!

2. Might get an extra hour of sleep tonight
Since we don't have to drive in - or shower for that matter.

Small blessings. We'll try to go home after 5pm tomarrow.

3. Dang -- is it from upstream or ...
did you get a lot of rain over there? Hasn't been too bad over in this corner of the state, but I know sometimes it's stuff upstream that really gets you. My first hubby was still in the house we owned when we were married when the Ohio flooded back in the '90s, and most of it was from lake effect snow and regular snow they'd had in Pennsylvania -- Ohio hadn't had that much snow or rain that winter, comparatively.

Good luck -- hope your animals get by okay! I lived up the hill when the ex's house flooded, I kept his cat for a week or so until things settled down.

4. We got lots of rain

Somewhere around 4 here at the store and like 6 inches at home. It is Moxahalla Creek that has flooded out Crooksville.

I heard that the Muskingum River is going to be 2 feet above flood stage tomorrow.

i-70 is closed in both directions in Cambridge, east of here.

6. Sheesh -- I wouldn't bet we got a quarter inch here, today.
It's been overcast for days, remnants of Frances riding the jet stream, no doubt, but we haven't gotten that much rain out of it. Imagine we'll get hit again after Ivan, too.

Stay dry -- I imagine the ex is bailing quick and having nasty flashbacks, unless he lives on a hill. He and his second wife live in Gallia County, I think. Hope he's not knee-deep in the Ohio again!

5. I'm in central PA and we have at least 4 inches since this morning
And it just keeps on pouring !!! This area is the one that was hit by Hurricane Agnes back in the early 70's.

Good luck !!
