Salman Rushdie on pornography
Edited on Wed Sep-08-04 08:47 PM by rumguy

"Raising yet another controversy, Indian-born writer Salman Rushdie claims that porn is vital to freedom and supports his argument with statistics about the volume of porn traffic on the internet in Pakistan.

Rushdie argues that a free and civilized society should be judged by its willingness to accept pornography."

8. Yes / No
Edited on Wed Sep-08-04 09:35 PM by Crisco
Yes: grow up.

No: with complete mass acceptance, porn loses its ability to shock. it also risks the possibility of becoming a tool of the powerful, rather than a tool against the powerful.

yes: uptight religious extemists need a little loosening up

no: somehow i don't think religious extremists, who don't respect womens' sexuality in the first place, are going to look more fondly on women offline just because they got free access to some snatch shots.
