How traffic-congested is your city?
My alma mater, Texas A&M does a study each year of the traffic congestion in 85 US cities. Here is a link to the 2004 report:

http://mobility.tamu.edu/ums/congestion_data/

For medium sized cities, Austin has the worst traffic. Considering traffic in larger cities, Austin really isn't that bad, but for a city this size, there are some major issues.

3. Raleigh - middle of the pack
just like I figured.
There's really only 2 places where the traffic is really bad:
I-40 to RTP (Research Triangle Park) and Hwy 64 from Knightdale to Raleigh.

5. Toronto. Bad and getting worse
Not only has city council stopped every major road improvement proposed in the last 30 years, allegedly to discourage people from driving, they've also delayed or killed every attempt to improve public transit. To make matters worse, they also demolished a 2km stretch of freeway in an area with just one other route for the local traffic. These numnuts are also taking out traffic lanes from existing arteries and turning them into bicycle lanes that are empty because they refuse to crack down on the sociopathic assholes who ride on the sidewalks. And now that businesses are fleeing the city and setting up shop in the 'burbs they're whining about how they aren't getting enough revenue. Ugh. This used to be a damn fine city.

9. Yes, absolutely
I didn't even bother checking the link, because I know Chicago is terrible. Just try getting back into the city on a Friday after work from any direction. UGH!

10. going out is just as bad.
I used to work in John Hancock and the Michigan Ave express bus to the train stations often took an hour and that's for 3 miles. The public transport sucks as much as cars. I just love standing in a rain or blizzard for up to an hour waiting for the bus.

11. Between 4:00 and 5:00 I once counted...
8 cars in a single minute! It's getting so bad the city just installed a second traffic light.
