hurricane ivan
hurricane ivan has turned south and is headed directly for trinidad and tobago. my mother just called, they're evacuating and headed for her office which is fortified like nobody's business. they'll be safe there i pray, but our house...ai...i don't know. the hurricane is expected to make landfall within the hour. 150mph winds...just please, if you believe in prayer, pray, and if you don't, please send good vibes southward.

1. WOW! That is competely NOT what NOAA predicted.
Wishing your family the best. I live in a gulf state, and we have been lucky this season. Wish your family all the same luck.

8. Winds at 105 miles per hour -- not 150
Ivan weakened abruptly a day ago -- it's moving through some very dry air -- and it isn't supposed to get back to more than about 110 before it hits the islands. Not fun, but not devastating either. So keep your hopes up.

17. OMG I'm so sorry I'll be sending good thoughts
I was wondering when I was looking at the weather report earlier today. I know Trinidad is usually in the no hurricane zone except for that one they had in the 1960s. It's good your parents have a safe place to go. I loved my visit there, what a beautiful place, with all the birds and flowers.

19. and yet another update
mum called, they're safe and back at the house which is a-ok and intact. tobago took the worst of it, but the storm is quick-moving so it's moved on to clobber grenada and st. vincent now. all communication to tobago is FUBARd of course, so they have no way of getting in contact with my aunt and my cousins. keep the prayers coming, and thanks for the prayers so far!
