1. Do people still play that game?

Has it been updated over time, or does it still look like it did in 1995?

2. Hell yes.
It's like crack for me. When I start a game of CivIII, I cut myself off from the world for at least three days.

3. Much better looking.
Mostly the same game with a few really good updated elements.

For example, in order to build certain units you have to control territories with the natural resources capable of building those units. Kind of reminds me of Diamonds "Guns, Germs, and Steel."

12. How a game looks should be irrelevant. There are plenty
of pretty games out there that are boring as shit.

Civ II is timeless, too bad they fucked it up with Civ III.

13. While I chose American, I like the Celts in the second one too.
They give you good stuff to start out with, but lack in overall scientific development speed.

14. Agricultural Is a Must
Accordingly, based on the choices available, I'd go with the Dutch, unless you're on a Pangaea in which case Mayans would probably be better.

15. In Civ 3, it's either the Egyptians or the Persians....
All others have workers that are too damn slow.

The Egyptians are superfast workers, but their unique unit blows, the Persians aren't quite as fast, but their practically invincible swordsman kick the ass of any and all ancient units.

I also like the Babylonians, though. They build temples fast, so you can mollify your ignorant masses more easily.
