Found out my son is a neo-con Repuke!
I'm here staying at my mom's in Houston, and my son lives with my mom for now (long story, but he is saving money for an apartment -- the last apartment he had he had to leave because of crime perpetrated against him and his girlfriend).

So I get here Saturday from Florida with my John Kerry and Iraq is Arabic for Vietnam stickers on the back of my car. He immediately says "You're not voting for that WIMP, are you?" Ugh, please save me! Seems he thinks Bush is 'strong' and we should just nuke Iraq. He believes the whole thing about Iraq being involved in 9/11 and about the swift boat liars. I set him straight on both of those, but of course, he still thinks Bush is 'strong' and besides, 'he's been president for 4 years, he has a family legacy, he should remain president'. He also DID NOT CARE that Bush stole the election. God help me! (and I'm an atheist!).

I told him if he felt that way, he should sign up. He's like "They won't take me, I'm too fat". The kid's maybe 15 pounds overweight at most. I told him they would take him, he's the perfect age (23) and they'd love to have him as cannon fodder. He didn't appreciate that too much. Then he says "You know I don't vote anyway". So shut the hell up then!

You know, he is a great kid, very responsible, always willing to help out his friends, etc. I just do not understand where this neo-con attitude came from! Maybe he will wise up once he's drafted. I hope it doesn't come to that though!

3. Yeee! try pointing out to him....
`...the damage to the environment..
....the lost jobs...
.....their lying us into war.
.....*'s deserter status.
that's a start....

if all else fails, you must disown him.
You have no son!
(I'm kidding. Don't go that far. As Pat Robertson would say, "Raise a child up in the correct path and when he is grown he will not stray from it."
Wait, that wasn't pat. it's actually in the Bible.)

4. Praying
I will join others I feel sure <g> in a prayer vigil for his very soul! My Gawd, what an AWFUL thing to find out so late in (his) life - that satan has taken over his mind, and spirit...!!!

Noooooooooooooooooooo not the draft! Not with Bush in that stolen office... far too dangerous as Bush intends to attack little nations just because he can... and he uses OUR kids (you don't see his daughters headed to Iraq!)...

Condolences.

6. You don't understand where the neo-con attitude comes from?
He lives in Houston for one but besides that fact every day we are bombarded with neo-con BS on TV. It isn't a surprise that people vote against their best interests.

7. Tell him that a wimp is someone...
who sends someone ELSE to fight his battles for him. Bush did it by dodging the draft and going AWOL from the TANG, and he's doing it now by sending our military and guard to avenge the squabble between Saddam and his daddy.

At least Kerry enlisted in the Navy, RE-enlisted and volunteered for combat and fought bravely. Once he saw what was going on, and had a chance to get out, he took the chance so he could go home and fight against what he saw going on in our name.

9. My Condolences, Dear
Too many men think that their masculinity is enhanced (or manifested) by aping the GOP. Too bad they don't know that Real Women Love Democrats. But then, some guys LIKE Stepford wives, or think they do (until they go through divorce court, or bankruptcy, or any other serious life challenge). And some guys can't take the "competition" of a thinking, competent woman. Survival of the fittest, gets them in the end.

10. My daughter converted to LDS (Mormon) religion
and they staunchly support Bush. As a matter of fact, they are responsible for some of the TRUE Cro-Magnons in the Arizona and Federal legislature. She started to slip to the dark side because of the hypnotic influence of her friends and the overall peer pressure. I took her to see Fahrenheit 911 and now she says she is voting for Kerry!

Good luck - I hope something breaks through for him.

11. Lost my son too..
His girlfriend, the KKK queen for real, has converted him into a hate and warmonger. I was a single Mom and if someone has benefitted from Liberal programs that helped him attend Law School, he is one. My son is a New Yorker, born in Brooklyn, raised in California. His girlfriend is an uneducated bimbo from hicksville Missouri. I really mean, from small town where all her family and neighbors are members of the KKK and have large jesus cross on top of their shacks.

Powerful movie with Edward Norton. Shows the transformation of a nazi skin to a reasonable human being... it's a hard road in the movie, but it might save him some lumps.

It might not help, but it couldn't hurt.

35. Try reading THE SILENT BROTHERHOOD
gmoney has a great idea American History X shows how a neo-Nazi punk can get his head on straight. The Silent Brotherhood, on the other hand, is the real-life story of how everyday people who would otherwise live normal, rational lives bought into neo-Nazi and Identity BS and formed a group known as "The Order," a domestic terrorist organization that robbed armored cars, bombed synagogues and porn theaters, assassinated Denver talk-radio pioneer Alan Berg, etc. Surprisingly even-handed and introspective writing. Hope this helps in some small way.

13. Seems to be a young male phenomenon
I was at one of my favorite watering holes late on Saturday night, and I saw the backup DJ sitting at the bar talking to the bartender. They were going over the standard freeper spew and re-capping the convention. He's a recent veteran, mid-20's, and hates liberals, etc. Standard neo-con freeper dumbass. I don't say anymore to him than hello, can you play this, who's winning, and goodbye. :grr:

He's a IT guy who's been out of work for almost 6 months. He's going to an interview in DC later in the week; his unemployment insurance is about to run out. I should've pulled the Hammer of Truth and asked him if he's gonna give all of the money back. He'll look at me like I'm insane, then I'll remind him that unemployment insurance is a liberal idea. Since he's a good neo-con, he'll give it all back, with interest. I've yet to meet the freeper that wouldn't scream bloody murder if they had to live under the conditions that they'd impose on everyone else.

15. Neocon Movement was born in Houston...
The founder, Robert Verini(?) has a new book out something about the Right...whatever...bragging about how the movement began in 1972. The whole thing has nothing to do with religion...it has all to do with O.I.L. OIL OIL OIL. That guy Verini is a bigtime Houston billionaire oil man. His public relations organization is behind FOX's neocon success. Ann Coulter, Rush Limballs, Drudge, etc. were all schooled at the neocon school in Houston, a special journalist school for neocons to take over the FCC and be at all TV networks.

That guy Verini is also behind the de-regulation of the FCC and Fair Network Laws(?). When they don't like a movie, a song or an actor like Whoopi's joke about bush, Verini's organization sends out 8 million pieces of letters to complain and threaten corporations supporting the democrats.

16. He's not a Neo-Con...
Edited on Mon Sep-06-04 10:28 AM by BiggJawn
He's just a young man who thinks it's "Cool" that we have a strong "leader" who won't take no shit from the rest of the world. Blame our culture, where violence is Good, and the Art of Diplomacy is for pussies...He doesn't care about Neo-Con princples, it's all about looking studly and strong.

You COULD tell him that if he was any kind of man, that he'd lose that 15 pounds and get his ass to the Cannon Fodder Processing Center. Failure to do so means "you ain't got a hair on yer ass boy"

On second thought, he might do that, so best not to...

17. It's a G thing (as in gangster)
The BFEE has tapped into the wannbe wiseguy mentality that was propagated in the 80's and 90's. The show no weakness, Tony Montana, 187 on a undercover cop, smoking on endo and sipping gin and juice, shit ass outlook on life perpetrated on our culture. Life as reduced to bitchtes, ho's, and conflict resolution at the end of a 9 mm. Your son may not have ever lived this way, he may in no way represent himself in this way now but, his attitudes and values regarding such were shaped by this bullshit.

Keep working on him. A "strong" president would have kept going after OBL instead of diverting troops to Iraq. A "strong" president would not have sat in a room full of school children for seven minutes when the country is under attack, them flown all over the country like the chicken shit bastard he is.

And that if he doesn't vote, he's not even allowed to have an opinion -- at all!

It would be interesting to ask him how he actually came to formulate his ideas about John Kerry, and how much thought he's actually given the subject.
