do you get hair rats in your sleep?
Lately I've been waking up with a section of hair here or there that looks like my cats have been knitting-one-purrling-two all night in it. I don't move around a lot in my sleep and can't imagine why this is happening. My hair is shoulder length, and I shampoo every day.

Do you have this problem?

1. lol...
my boyfriend always wakes up with his hair totally messed up, and he has rather short hair.

We have a long-running joke about his "hair-possums" that come in at night and mess it up.

*I* think it's because he uses a small amount of hair-gel every day. If you use any sort of product like that, sleeping on your hair can muss it up pretty good.

But then... it might really be 'possums.

2. I do....
I have mid back length hair (as opposed to mid length back hair *ahthankyouverymuch*) and I usually wake up looking like I'm trying to get dreadlocks.

Of course two of my cats like to wiggle around my bed and a third has neat freak tendancies and likes to groom her people, so it might have something to do with it.

3. as far as I know...
...I only turn over twice during the night. And I don't think it's possible that my head is twitching back and forth in a way that would knot up a clump of hair. The dynamics puzzle me.

4. I think its the pillow
Even nominal tosses and turns cause hair knots.

5. It sounds like Al Qaeda to me

Al Qaeda hates the way Americans always have shiny and manageable hair.

Members of sleeper cells are assigned to sneak into bedrooms at night and mess up the hair of Americans.

6. Another hairscrow!
This happens to me too, and I can't explain it.

Maybe it has something to do with dreams or stress-

8. You are one of those lucky people that sleep really well!
I have very long hair, but I was also on some very heavy duty meds last year that made me lose a lot of it...so anyway, I have all these frizzies growing back, it's all shit...hair to my butt, but, hair sticking out alll over. I have never been a good sleeper, anyway, so if you are worried about how funny you may look whilst waking up, the best thing to do is lay on your side, and cup your hand over your face on the side that you are sleeping on and take your other side and just stretch it out, use a pillow to maybe prop up that side, wish I could draw you a diagram, but oh well... (it's kind of like when i pierced my ears like one too many times...)
Hate to tell ya anyway, that most people do wake up looking like shit!! At least you don't look like shit all day, right???

12. Used To
I have waist-length hair, and I wear a CPAP (a breathing device held on the face with straps). I wash my hair before I go to sleep - it takes forever to dry - and wear the headgear under the hair. I've found that if I just leave the hair in a scrunchie, it doesn't get knotted up and doesn't dry funny.
