Mother Spared Prison after 30-Mile 'Wrong Way' Drunken Drive

A mother of two who sped 30 miles the wrong way along a motorway while drunk was banned from driving for five years today but escaped a prison sentence.

Rebecca Denton, 37, narrowly avoided a head-on collision as oncoming traffic swerved wildly away from her Toyota Celica.

Denton and a passenger joined the M4 near the east bound carriageway’s exit at Sarn, near Bridgend, south Wales, and then proceeded west in the early hours of March 21.

Police caught her up in the parallel carriageway and frantically gestured to her to stop – but were simply waved at by her passenger, Swansea Crown Court heard.
