Did you ever just feel amazingly overwhelmed?
Ok, so there's some alcohol talking here.... but I'm sure you can handle it.

I'm going to have some surgery on Friday.

It's life altering surgery for me, but I'm sure I'll be fine.

But you know, in the last 2 days, I've got a "care basket" from a friend, and magazines to read from my local bartender, and another important gift (I won't elaborate) from a co-worker.

To be honest, I didn't know I had all these people pulling for me.

I expressed surpise about all of this to another friend and he said "Look in the mirror."

How is it that so many people think that highly of me and I didn't know it?

Where has my head been that I've missed that I've been thought of that highly?

Why do I doubt myself so much?

1. I think many people doubt themselves. You're not alone.
I'm in that club.

I wish you well with your surgery!

2. That's not doubt or alcohol talking..just humility
And that's a good thing.

Just remember that if someone asks if there's anything they can do, and you say yes, and they can do it, frequently the other person benefits as much as you do if not more.

Steady on, MissMillie. You'll do just fine.

3. i don't know
a lot of us underestimated ourselves, especially females...
i had cancer, bad. i am single, live alone, and i was surprised at all the people who stepped into the breach, especially when I had to have the life-altering surgery after the radiation burned a hole in an inconvenient spot.

and again, with hypocrites.com closing. the members saying i posted the best stories and i was the best at putting morans in their place...i was gob-smacked-sort of an 'I didn't know you cared' feeling...i was surprised, because i didn't get a lot of feedback at the time, or i THOUGHT i wasn't getting feedback-people kept coming back to visit the site, and i should have realised that.

sometimes it takes a big thing to remind us or show us we are valued and enjoyed, because we just take the day-to-day thing of people seeking us out to enjoy us for granted.

best of luck to you in your surgery.
