So many greats but only 11 positions open.

1B - Lou Gehrig

SS - Ernie Banks
3B - Mike Schmidt
OF - Hank Aaron
OF - Willie Mays
OF - Ted Williams
C - Johnny Bench
LHP - Warren Spahn

6. Its hard to argue with you guys except for 2B
Rogers Horsnby hit over .400 over 4 consecutive seasons...not hit .400 every year but if you totaled up his numbers over that 4 year span he hit over .400....NOW THATS INCREDIBLE!!!

8. But he was a butcher with the leather.
Gehringer was a great glove man as well as a great hitter.

3. Put Ruth in as a pitcher
which he was, in fact, even at the time of the fateful, accursed trade.

He even combined with Ernie Shore on a no-hitter! (Shore pitched the final eight innings and change after Ruth was ejected.)

5. Gehringer over Hornsby????.
I like all the rest of your picks except you have to put Bonds in the OF somewhere....hate to leave off Ruth and Aaron but come on you can't leave off the only 500/500 man in history.

I really like Koufax too but he is like Earl Campbell in football...the best there ever was but only for about 4 or 5 seasons.

7. Sorry but Bonds cheats.
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 06:36 PM by maveric
When in Pittsburgh he was a skinny, sometimes lead-off hitter who never hit over 30 HRs a year. He moves to the Bay area (Balco), buffs up although he never works out, and THEN hits all these homers.

I'm also excluding assholes from my alltime list. No Rose, No Cobb, No Bonds.
