Did anyone see "House of Sand and Fog"?
I read the book. Pretty dark stuff.

Having read the book, will I be disappointed in the movie?

2. I didn't read the book,
but I watched the movie. Three stars, I would guess. It was pretty predictable.

3. The movie is very faithful to the book
but I actually preferred the film, something that rarely happens. The performances are superb.

5. Just saw it two days ago
Depressing of course, but well acted. Anything with Jennifer C in it is worth watching of course :) It seemed a tad slow at times, but those slow spots stick with you later as they set tone and mood quite well. Reminds me in a way of some of King's works which seem overly long but give you a chance to get to know the people so that when it is finally at the end you have some feelings for them.

At any rate, it was tragic but well done (and I would also recommend 'Snow Falling on Cedars').

6. I'll second that on the performances
All the leads were great. Ben Kingsley is one of my favorite actors. He never disappoints.

7. Jennifer Connelly, Ben Kingsley - how bad could it be?

I thought it was very good, but I didn't read the book.

the feel-good movie of the year it isn't, but very thought provoking I would say.
