Staying sane during RNC Week: A Guide
1) Turn off the TV. Better yet, cut the power cord.
2) Stay out of threads reporting poll results.
3) Stock up on trashy novels & comfort food. (You can go back on the diet later.)
4) Make a list of things you've wanted to do around the house but haven't had time for. Start doing them.
5) Limit your access to DU. The board will be slow this week anyway.
6) Limit your access to newspapers. Just read the headlines to see if a nuclear war has started or something.
7) Drink.
8. Do exotic drugs.

2. Thank you.
I would add one:
If you do watch TV, watch the Daily Show. (You can't do that however, if you cut the power cord.)

5. I have a disorder
that causes me to continue to tape every day's "Guiding Light" episodes, even though I haven't seen it since last October. I started watching it while I was cooking and cleaning for my son's graduation party this weekend. Something tells me that I'll be almost caught up by the end of the week!

By the way, yesterday while I was watching, Dan Rather broke in: dramatic music, "Breaking News - Michael Jackson has been taken into custody on charges of sexual abuse of a child!" You know, if everyone would watch the news 9 months late, they'd realize how unimportant most of the "Breaking News" stories really are! :D

6. My way of staying sane during bush week....
DVDs, DVDs and even more DVDs....I may take my laptop to work so I can listen to movies and TV shows while working. This way I will not be tempted to listen to NPR during the day. Of course if I could get Air America at work it would be better but my satellite radio doesn't work in the cube.

iPod....I downloaded some stuff last night from the iTunes music store...an Edgar Allan Poe collection via Audible.com and some This American Life.

Tonight I'll download the latest Democracy Now and listen to it tomorrow.

These things should keep me sane.

Oh and DU too!
