Spent all night dancing

Never did this before--nothing like this. A brief chronicle:

Last night some friends and I drove into NYC and went to Crobar, which is a fantastic club, that played host to raving as a great DJ from Britain (DJ Digweed) came in to spin.

Arrived at 11 pm, to nighttime and lines and clods of fine girls and drugged out guys. We went inside, equipped ourselves with water bottles and booze--just a bit--and started going.

It was amazing. The DJ has you by the nose psychologically--it was almost like watching a clever thriller, where you don't know if the beat is going to lead up into a really hard riff, or whether it'll dissipate, leaving you in a state of anticipation for the next go around. The wizard of the place, really.

The only dubious thing I did was pop an adderall, which is apparently a relative of Ritalin that keeps you awake and alert if you _aren't_ an ADD type (I'm not). It certainly worked, though it was hard to pick apart the effect of that from the Red Bulls and Vodkas that came our way.

What was best was the basic helplessness in the face of the music and the crowd and the sweat. The music goes and you go and that's it. It's not a matter of trying to hook up with any one (so many fine fucking girls, though; unreal; and not the stuck-up kind, rather a happy mix of freak and normality.)

The folks on drugs were fun to look at, if nothing else. I don't mean this in a snide way--rather, seeing a smiling groups of folks dancing away, never so happy as when in motion--well, the joy becomes vicarious and it rubs off.

So. There it was. 11 pm to 7 am, and a morning of satisfied unsettled exhaustion.

Can't wait to do it again...

1. I miss those days

Of all night raving and clubbing. It's been a while since I did that.
I mean, I still go to clubs and all but the clubs here in CT close at 2 a.m. This one place has afterhours to 4 a.m. but it's not the same.

I remember going to the Tunnel back in the day and getting there at 11 p.m. and not leaving til 7 or 8 in the morning. It's very surreal, especially when on E, when you get to the club and it's night and when you leave it's bright and sunny. One time, we went, of course, we were dancing all night and didn't bother to check outside but when we were leaving the club, we were in the middle of a snowstorm. Had to be at least 6 inches on the ground. Luckily, we took the train that night and didn't drive.

2. I live in CT--and the club scene is not like NYC

Yeah, the feeling of being all cracked out in the morning is an unusual one...

to look at. I lived in Detroit for about 4 years and had some good times but I never got to dance all night. There was one club that was called the City Club (located on Cass and Bagley) that was very fun.

I can say I have never had an experience like that and am thinking I might be too old to at this point... But good for you!
