I'm alive and I'm home (and I'm hopefully heading to NYC tomorrow AM)
:bounce:

It wasn't the appendix. But there was so much inflammation around that area that the doctors had no way of knowing if the appendix was inflamed or not. Thankfully after seeing 2 Nurse Practioners, an ER Doctor and an Intern - the surgeon was contacted and he didn't want to open me up til I had a couple of rounds of antibiotic drips.

Everyone praise be to Dr. Hobbs the surgeon who never performed any surgery on me. He (along with myself) had a gut feeling (ha-ha) that it wasn't the appendix. Figured he could put off surgery for the night while I get some antibiotics in me and control the inflamtion.

By 2pm I was ready to get out of the hospital and eat some real food (all I had was swabs of ice water). A visit from the gastroentologist gave me the ok to get out of there after I had some dinner and another antibiotic drip. 8pm I was out of the door. The gastroentologist did say he would let me out of the hospital (and even ok'd me to travel) as long as I promised to scheduled a visit with him next week, not do any heavy work in NYC (no cartwheels were specifically mentioned) and finally: no greasy food, no fried food, no spicy food, no tobacco and most importantly - None of that $45 bottle of tequila packed in my suitcase (along with any other beverages out there).

I'm not sure if I'll make the Planned Parenthood March, but I'm going to try and make it to the party Saturday night. You are all welcomed to buy me a glass of, well, um...water  My friend Jim was planning on coming up in the AM and will be travelling with me. I'm going to bring a big bag of panera bagels (since bagels seem to be the only thing I can actually eat) and drink plenty of water.

Looking forward to seeing you all, :loveya: and thanks to you Will, sorry to have called you but you were the only DU number I had who I knew was going to be at the NYC party.

Thanks for all your kind messages & posts. Keep my roomie Bernice in your prayers. She was my hospital roommate and unfortunately was the middle car of a 3 car accident. A drunk driver failed to stop at a red light and ran into her car. She's a mother of 2 (with the 2 most adorable girls who I got to be good friends with) and she's all boogered up but thankfully nothing serious broken!!

12. There was no sordid details to tell you
She pretty much left me in the bathroom by myself to sponge myself down. Which I might add is a freaking challenge with a needle up your right (which btw, I'm right-handed) arm making it impossible to bend my arm in the process.

:eyes:

Thanks for your call

15. Lynne, m'dear...
Please be extra goddamned careful in NYC. The stories I have read tonight, from the "Critical Mass" demonstration only serve to reinforce my belief that there is great danger there. Great indeed.

I never wanted to see these times return. It looks like they have. I am having a '68 flashback.

23. Glad to hear that you are doing ok!
Appendicitis was the worst pain I had ever had, I did have surgery but only after hours and hours lying in a freezing cold ER room, suffering through a battery of tests when I KNEW it was appendicitis.

They even gave me morphine, which only slightly helped the pain. I am glad you didn't have to go through anything more painful and that you will be here for the convention!

Take care and I am glad to hear that your are feeling better! :)

I've been thinking about you. Be safe in NY and don't hit the water too hard! That stuff can knock you for a loop. :D Especially if the "facilities" are nowhere to be found.

All the best!

32. Dr. Hobbs did my dad's gall bladder surgery....
He is great! My dad lives in Delaware. I did too for 15 years, but now I live just over the line in Pennsylvania.

I am so glad to hear that you are recovering and feeling better. Good luck in New York!
