Dream Team Beaten by Argentina 89-81
ATHENS, Greece - Bronze is the best the American men's basketball team can do, and the reason is simple: They were beaten by a better team, Argentina. Manu Ginobili scored 29 points to lead his nation to another victory over the country that used to dominate the sport, an 89-81 win in the Olympic semifinals Friday night.

I am sitting here watching the first quarter in the mountain time zone.

6. Another day, another spoiler
There is no worse web etiquette than spoilers in titles. This is the 5th one so far, just on DU. Edit your title please.

3. Maybe the NBA will return to playing basketball and not
the sick combination of rugby and WWF Wrestling they've been playing for the last 10 years.

5. Ditto
Root for the women's basketball team. They'll be going for the gold.

I think that we need to return to sending men's basketball players that think it is an honor to play for their country. The first Dream Team, while they were pros, did appreciate playing for their country and in the Olympics.

9. Oh no! Will flags be flown at half staff?
And for how long?

As I recall from yesterday, it is unpatriotic not to root for the USA men's Olympic basketball team. I was a little unclear on the reasons behind it, but when patriotism is involved, logic just has to go out the fuckin' window.

10. well, that makes the Olympics for me . . .
I've hated the idea of NBA millionaires forming Olympic teams since the first "Dream Team" (which I also hoped would lose, despite being a huge Larry Bird fan) . . . let's get back to using college players . . . doesn't matter if they win or lose . . . at least there will be some semblence of the Olympic spirit in the competitions . . .

Thanks for ruining it for me, too.

May the lounge run you out on a rail, and tar and feather you, metaphorically speaking.
