Robert Crumb To Do Literal Interpretation of Genesis
One of comics’ most acclaimed voices is back at the drawing board for the next two years. Publisher’s Weekly recently broke the news that Robert (R.) Crumb has signed with W.W. Norton for his next nonfiction project. It’s a move that further shows the commitment of large publishing houses to the graphic novel format, and one that has both immediate and far-reaching implications.

To speak to the Crumb book directly, its subject matter will reportedly be a literal interpretation of the book of Genesis, or, in sound byte form, "The Passion of the Christ for the NPR Crowd." That’s just what unconfirmed sources are calling it, as Crumb has asked that neither Norton, nor his agent Denis Kitchen, discuss the subject of the book.

”It was based on an idea Robert had originally brought to me at Kitchen Sink,” Kitchen told Newsarama. “We couldn’t do it because it was late in the day there, but it was an idea that I loved, and I never forgot about it. I brought it up with Robert again a few months ago, and he said he’d still like to do it if he had the time and enough money to dedicate a couple of years to it, because it’s a major, major project. So we went out shopping it, and were lucky – we found interest at more than one house.”

3. Probably
It's a hard choice, but I think I'd rather look like one of his women than one of his men. His men are of the other extreme and sickly looking, imo.

4. Ew.
Eve with big hairy legs and a bulbous butt, Adam with a big veiny penis, everybody all sweaty with huge pores. Will God be a guy with long beard and a robe like Mr. Natural?

Yeah, that's what God should look like in Crumb's world.

(True story)

I'm just trying to figure out how he'll fit machine guns into the story, though.

10. Puts me in mind of Basil Wolverton and his Bible stories.
Wolverton was an ordained minister as well as a cartoonist.

11. One of the masters of manga did the life story of Buddha
That I've been wanting to track down. But I think it runs close to 10 volumes. That's a little too costly for me right now.
