1). Cameo reached its pinnacle with Word Up. While the group continued to record and tour into the 1990's, their style became formulaic, stemming from the fact that robotic funk and synthesizers overwhelmed their later records



2). Edison Lighthouse was the brainchild of vocalist Tony Burrows. The group’s lone hit entitled "Love Grows (Where Rosemary Grows)" was one of four simultaneous U.K. Top Ten records registered by Burrows under different names.



3). Artist: Rosie and the Originals, Song: Angel Baby, Year: 1960



4). DEEE-Lite formed in 1986. Vocalist Lady Miss Kier led the trio, which also included the deejays Super DJ Dmitry and Jungle DJ Town Town. DEEE-Lite brought the sights and sounds of New York's club culture into the mainstream with their hit single entitled "Groove Is In the Heart."

2. They don't have my favorite

one hit wonder. Billy Paul, 1972 with "Me and Mrs. Jones" went to #1. I never heard another thing from him.

4. I always "bookend" that song on my mix CDs with...

"Show and Tell" by Al Wilson, from around the same time.

Although Wilson did have another hit called "The Snake"...so he was more of a two-hit wonder.

7. Oh GAWD I remember Word Up!

The video was the best part, though. It had LeVar Burton in it as a creepy detective! Ah, the power of 80s cheese.

Speaking of which, remember Rockwell? "Somebody's Watching Me"? The shitty song which everyone ran out and bought only because (not Crazy yet) Michael Jackson sang the chorus? LOL.

9. Larry Blackman of Cameo is a cool dude..

I met him when I was living in Athens, Ga in the late 80's and he signed my "Word Up" album..
