Fuck The Creationists
Trash Talk
Ah yeah, here we go again!
Damn! This is some funky shit that I be laying down on your ass.
This one goes out to all my homey's working in the field of
evolutionary science.
Check it!

Verse 1
Fuck the damn creationists, those bunch of dumb-ass bitches,
every time I think of them my trigger finger itches.
They want to have their bullshit, taught in public class,
Stephen J. Gould should put his foot right up their ass.
Noah and his ark, Adam and his Eve,
straight up fairy stories even children don't believe.
I'm not saying there's no god, that's not for me to say,
all I'm saying is the Earth was not made in a day.

Chorus
Fuck, fuck, fuck,
fuck the Creationists.

Trash Talk
Break it down.
Ah damn, this is a funky jam!
I'm about ready to kick this bitch back in.
Check it.

Verse 2
Fuck the damn creationists I say it with authority,
because kicking their punk asses be me paramount priority.
Them wack-ass bitches say, "evolution's just a theory",
they best step off, them brainless fools, I'll give them cause to fear me.
The cosmos is expanding every second, every day,
but their minds are shrinking as they close their eyes and pray.
They call their bullshit science like the word could give them cred,
if them bitches be scientists then cap me in the head.

Chorus

Trash Talk
Bass!
Bring that shit in!
Ah yeah, that's right, fuck them all motherfuckers.
Fucking punk ass creationists trying to set scientific thought back 400 years.
Fuck that!
If them superstitious motherfuckers want to have that kind of party,
I'm going to put my dick in the mashed potatoes.
Fucking creationists.
Fuck them.

Believe it or not "Down With Entropy" helped me pass a physics class...that song explained it way better than my professor ever did. :P

12. I love that song!
And yes, it does explain entropy in an amazingly lucid and understandable - and accurate - way.

And I also love "Why Won't Jesse Helms Just Hurry Up and Die"

13. Man, I love the Turtles and am so glad to see you mention them
They were a really great band who not only did great covers but who wrote damn fine songs as well.

I'm a geek and I would say that I love punk bands like Radio Birdman and Bad Religion, who aren't afraid to use big words in their songs (and who can actually use them correctly!).

Also, there was a band from Seattle in the late '80s and early '90s called Gorilla. They, like Radio Birdman, had two doctors in the band. They were great!

16. Banned On Vulcan by Voltaire
I don't know about "the best", but I've got one that is definitely up there. I was just pimping this CD in a Trek thread the other day. Voltaire is a devastatingly witty goth musician who is also a big Trekkie, and "Banned On Vulcan" is a little CD he did of Trek songs. All of which are hilarious, and free for download from his website: http://www.voltaire.net/music/BannedOnVulcan.html

I bought it anyway, because I love all his stuff. My favorite song on it is "The U.S.S. Make Shit Up"

I was stranded on a planet, Just me and Spock
We met a nasty Nazi alien who locked our asses up
We found a hunk of crystal and a metal piece of bed
We made a laser phaser gun and shot him in the head

Bust a move, Tog

I was standing on the bridge when Sulu came to me
His eyes were full of tears he said "Captain, can't you see
the ship is gonna blow do something I beseech"
I grabbed a tribble and some chewing gum and stopped the warp core breach

And I say,
Bounce a graviton particle beam off the main deflector dish
That's the way we do things, lad, we're making shit up as we wish
The Klingons and the Romulans pose no threat to us
'Cause if we find we're in a bind we just make some shit up

And though he's just a child, and some think him a twit
Wesley is the master when it comes to making up some shit
He's the guy you want with you when you go out in space
Now if only he could beam those pimples off his face

And if you're at a party on the starship Enterprise
And the karaoke player just plain old up and dies
Set up a neutrino field inside a can of peas
Hold on to Geordi's visor and sing into Data's knee

And I say
Bounce a graviton particle beam off the main deflector dish
That's the way we do things lad, we're making shit up as we wish
The Klingons and the Romulans pose no threat to us
'Cause if we find we're in a bind we just make some shit up

Sisko's on a mission to go no bloody place
He loiters on a space station above Bajoran space
The wormhole's opened up and now they come from near and far
We'll keep the booze but please send back the fucking Jem-hadar

What is with the Klingons, remember in the day
They looked like Puerto Ricans and they dressed in gold lame
Now they look like heavy metal rockers from the dead
With leather pants and frizzy hair and lobsters on their heads

And I say
Bounce a graviton particle beam off the main deflector dish
That's the way we do things lad, we're making shit up as we wish
The Klingons and the Romulans pose no threat to us
'Cause if we find we're in a bind we just make some shit up

Well, I was stuck on Voyager, pounding on the door
When suddently it dawned on me I've seen this show before
Perhaps I'm in a warp bubble and slightly out of phase
'Cause it was way back in the sixties when they called it "Lost in Space"

We were looking for a way to make the ratings soar
So we orchestrated an encounter with the Borg
Normally you'd think that that would get us into shit
But this one has a smashing ass and a lovely set of tits

And I say
Bounce a graviton particle beam off the main deflector dish
That's the way we do things lad, we're making shit up as we wish
The Klingons and the Romulans pose no threat to us
'Cause if we find we're in a bind we're totally screwed but nevermind
We'll pull something out of our behinds, we just make some shit up

:) "The Sexy Data Tango" is another gem. It is by far the filthiest song I have ever heard without a single dirty word in it. The lyrics are all Trek technobabble. :P

19. I love that album
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 05:38 AM by last_texas_dem
I picked it up on vinyl out of curiosity a few years ago after reading about it on a list of great concept albums (and already being a Turtles fan who had (has) their Greatest Hits CD.) It's awesome how they came up with the different names for the different "bands", took pictures as the members of these bands, etc. It's got everything from country to psychedelic to surf to a pro-environment anthem and two Top Ten hits ("Elenore" and "You Showed Me") to boot. And anytime I'm listening to an oldies station and "Elenore" comes on I always have to tell whoever's with me about how the song was a tongue-in-cheek joke that no one got... I'm a music trivia geek myself.

Best geek-rock bands? Well, in terms of the actual genre that I've heard some critics mention before about the only one I can think of is Weezer and they're pretty good. Their debut is my favorite. I'm not sure what other bands I've heard classified as such, though, besides Nerf Herder and Nada Surf, who are basically one-hit wonders as far as I know.

Some older bands/artists that I like some stuff by that I feel like were making "geek-rock" before the term was coined include Herman's Hermits, Freddie and the Dreamers, Peter and Gordon maybe. Anyone ever heard their album Hot, Cold, and Custard? It's stuck somewhere between easy listening, novelty, and psychedelic pop music. It's pretty good stuff.

We taught my step-daughter about basic solar astronomy using "Why Does The Sun Shine?" and penpals with "Ana Ng".

Neat stuff.
