Anyone Else Here A Harold and Maude Fan?
Just saw it tonight and forgot how good it was. Got to love that Cat Stevens sound track.

1. Loved it.
Saw it when I was a kid and didn't understand it all that well, but I remember Ruth Gordon was really funny. I didn't pick up on the teen angst theme until much later.

2. I love cult movies
But H & M isn't one of them. I do love Harold's car, though.

3. Yeah, I liked that movie a lot
I've seen it a couple of times. One of my best friends from high school says it's one of his favorite movies, and I have to say that it has one of the best openings of any movie I've seen.

And being a Cat Stevens fan helps as well.

11. Whatever Happened to Bud Cort (Harold)?
Did he just drop off the face of the earth or something?

And is he a Democrat or something unspeakable?

14. Actually, Bud Cort is in that new movie
Bill Murray is making, 'The Life Aquatic.' I was surprised to see his name in the list -- he hasn't done a lot, over the years. What kind of freaked me out is the current picture of him on IMDB makes him look like a bald version of my ex-husband.

I loved Harold and Maude, too. A friend of mine and I used to rent it repeatedly from a video store. When their copy wore out, I bought him a copy of it for Christmas -- when we wanted to see it, we really wanted to see it.

Being an aging nonconformist chick myself, I should probably rent it and watch it again -- Maude was a great nontraditional archetype.

12. For some bizarre reason

My junior high school decided that an occasional trip
to the movies for the entire grade was a "field trip".
Movies we went to were "Airport" and "Harold and Maude".
Kind of strange. Should see Harold and Maude again.

13. info on bud cort
I love "Harold and Maude" but for just plain weirdness I think "Brewster McCloud" takes the gold.

Here's a snippet of info from the Internet Movie Database.

"In 1979, his life and career was nearly destroyed by a near-fatal car accident on the Hollywood Freeway. Consequently, he spent years enduring plastic surgery, enormous hospital bills, a losing court case, and the disruption of his blooming career."

Great Bud Cort quote:

"Ever since "Harold and Maude" people have generally regarded me as an arbiter of weirdness. So, I'll tell you what I find weird: I find malice, violence, and poverty weird."

Only line I remember is:
"Bird doodoo, bird doodoo, get that off my car, McCloud, you faggot!"
Weird, eh?
***************

Wow, Harold and Maude.... brings back a flood of memories... the youth, the vigor, the vigorous youthful sex. The smoky theaters, the fast cars, the smoky fast sex.

Those were the good old days.....
These are the good old days.

21. Probably my favorite movie of all time.
No movie has had a more profound effect on me (I first saw it when I was 10 years old.)

The scene where Cat Stevens' "Trouble" is playing, while Maude is being rushed to the hospital, makes me weep every time.
