Where do you buy pickled eggs?
I have been to every deli in town trying to find pickled eggs and I don't know where to buy them at. The grocery store sells disgusting jarred pickled eggs that taste horrible.

What type of store sells them?

3. The Fear Factor Deli
I HATE pickled eggs. Try a British store. Or you could make your own. Pickling isn't hard.

6. I have to bring them to a baby shower
My friend has a mad craving for pickled eggs and I promised that I would bring them. I thought that I could get them at a deli but I was wrong.

I thought only bars (from the 40's) sold 'em.

7. I am too lazy
Don't you have to keep them in a jar for several weeks so that they ferment of something like that?

8. LOL, NO..................
They DO NOT FERMENT, silly. You boil up and peel hard boiled eggs. Then you boil up your vinegar and spices and salt (do internet search for recipes), and pour over the eggs in a quart canning jar, then cap the jar and process in a boiling water bath. VERY EASY, VERY YUMMY.

12. Another twist on pickled eggs
A co-worker at my first job used to bring pickled eggs to work for lunch, and his recipe was fairly simple:

hard boiled eggs
dill
pickled jalapeno peppers and their juice
vinegar

Put in fridge for a week.

The jalapenos do those eggs justice.

13. Gotta find 'em
in an out of the way roadhouse, a mom and pop dive bar sort of a place. Hopefully, the old gal will be makin' and sellin' 'em on the sly, without the county health inspector giving her no nevermind.

15. Pittsburgh
Sorry, they were one of those ubiquitous local foods when I was growing up in Pittsburgh. Pickled eggs and chipped ham.

Don't bother with store bought. They are very easy to make and a good way to deal with Easter Eggs after everyone has had a chance to go ooh and ahhh over how pretty they look before diving into the chocolate. My mother used to do this. She'd add a beet to turn the eggs purple - that may have been the local variant on the recipe. I've never seen purple pickled eggs anywhere else but Pittsburgh... not that I've really looked for them anywhere else.

How to actually make them? All I really remember is peel the eggs, put into a sterile jar, add vinegar, water, spices and a beet. Not really useful directions. My best advise would be to do a web search.
