Concrete Blonde at Seattle's Showbox last night! Awesome!
For the record, Johnette Napolitano ditched her trademark jeans and tank tees and wore instead a very classy Little Black Dress and some sexy black pumps. Never knew what nice legs she has! ;-) And of course, she and the boys rock like HELL! :headbang:

She actually doesn't look too bad for a hard-drinking rocker lady in her late forties. What a great show. I was drunk off my ass, but loved every minute of the concert. What was really nice was this blonde girl in her early twenties kept looking over at me and smiling, shaking her hair at me (damn, her hair smelled good!), and grooving with me to the music. What was funny is I'm a balding thirty-five year old married guy. What is it about me she liked? Can't say, but I saw the guy she came in with; he was even older than me, and also going bald. Unlike me, he seemed ashamed of it by the awful way he tried to hide the fact. Maybe she liked me because I'm bald and proud! Guess I'll never know.

Anyway, Johnette, Jim and whoever is drumming for them nowadays put on a memorable show that I'll always treasure.

:headbang: CONCRETE BLONDE RULES FOREVER!!! :headbang:

1. Oh My God!!! My favorite band from grad school!!!
they're still around! My roomie and I were all into them. She died in a car crash, and I have never played the cassetes since.

I still love the 'dirt' of the band - I may be able to re-play or buy their music! I'll pull out her old shoes, her last essay, and the newspaperw/ her obit (all in one box), and do something wonderful!

Thanks for posting!

2. Yeah, they're still around. They seem to go through drummers
like Spinal Tap, but the core, Johnette Napolitano and James Mankey, are still rockin'!

Jim looks like a high school history teacher on the verge of retirement, but the man can PLAY the guitar!

3. First time I saw them, Johnette sat down at the table with my
date and I and had a beer. They opened for X, and Johnette watched the show with us.

Why us, I'll never know, but there she was.

Back in the day, when my hair was burgundy...

4. God, I envy you! You got to meet and drink with Johnette!
My brother said he lost count of how many times I shouted "I love you, Johnette!" :D I was only second row back! There are no seats at the Showbox. By 'row', I meant row of people.

And she didn't say it back! That's the thanks I get for buying all their albums! :7

8. The memory of the guy has faded, but that night will live forever.
My husband of almost 9 years loves them too, though.

She is just spectacular!

9. I saw them at some bar called Bogarts near Long Beach CA
in the 80's when I was stationed on the USS Missouri. They were good.

10. Does She Still Play That Gianinni Acoustic?
It's the one with the single cutaway on the bottom, and the whole top is a continuous arc, sort of like a mandolin or lute.

It's the one she had in the first video. I have that same model. So, just wondering.

14. I love the Showbox
I never got to go there in its first incarnation as a great punk-rock club (too young) but it's a great venue, a Seattle landmark! :D
