I'm Gonna Scream If I Hear Bush* Mispronounce "Message" Again
It's meSS-age! Not MESH-IGSH.

Even if I knew NOTHING about him, I couldn't bring myself to vote for someone who can't manage to control his mouth well enough to form a simple "S" sound or "G" sound.

I'll bet it drives Laura nuts. How does she restrain herself from hitting him with a rolling pin as he sleeps?

Thank you for listening.

12. This Ain't My First Time At The Rodeo... I Know How Fat My Tongue Feels
and I know how difficult it is to control one's mouth when it feels tingly or numb because of, uh... a self-induced chemical imbalance.

I honestly believe that he's lost a few important brain cells. The ones that control personality, judgement, anger, intelligence, logic, speech, and motor skills.

I've seen tapes of him speaking from years ago, and he doesn't seem to have this same trouble with his speech. Sad.

11. It's a redneck linguistic thing...
people who affect a hypermasculinity keep the tongue 'way back in the mouth, and the "s" sound tends to "sh." Otherwise, a dangerous lisp might occur, even though the lingual movement toward the teeth gives sibilance, and more clarity. Notice that it's not limited to males; Karen Hughes has the same sort of dumb-sounding speech.

13. Interesting Observation. --- So What Explains His "Monkey Face" R-sounds.
You know... that hyper extended protruding pursed lips. It's especially noticible in words that END with the R sound.

20. Again, I think it's the retraction of the tongue
...or at least the movement of the lips forward away from the tongue. In the rural homiletics of white fundamentalist preachers, you can hear the "s" sound whistle, at times, as the tongue is retracted into an "anti-lisp." Chipmy's pursing of his lips on the "r" sound is, I believe, a kind of imitation of the southern hyper-macho sound. As we know, he's not a real Texan, and in his effort to pose as one, perhaps these affectations in his speech have come about.

22. I always marvel at the fact that this is a man with a pedigree education.
This is a man who has had...HANDED to him...a premium education. Andover Academy. Yale. Harvard Business School.

And yet, he always sounds like he's the country bumpkin at the general store.

Just absolutely unbelievable.
