Man with two broken legs escape police custody

A man who suffered broken legs in a car crash while fleeing police Aug. 17, snuck out of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center Monday morning.

Lyndon resident William Stone, 39, left DHMC in Lebanon, N.H., at about 11 a.m., and is wanted by police on both sides of the Connecticut River.

Hospital personnel reported to police that Stone had left the hospital, said DHMC spokeswoman Deborah Kimbell. "We have no ability to keep a patient without their consent," she said.

"We went to the hospital to look for him," said Sgt. Stephen St. Lewis of the Lebanon Police Department. However, they did not find Stone, who is wheelchair-bound and believed to be headed to the Lyndon area or an unknown location in Massachusetts.
