Married to a workaholic

I saw Mr. Moonbeam 1 hour and 40 minutes from Monday through Friday last week. That's TOTAL for those five days.

I'm just sayin'.

Well it is, but....um....well, you know.

3. Yeah and here's what's worse

he works nights. Which means we aren't even asleep at the same time.

For instance, he came home this morning around 7 am. Child Moonbeam and I got up and we spent about 20 minutes with him, then he took a shower, ate, and went to bed. We went off to school and job.

When Child Moonbeam and I got home at 4:30 today, he was already gone to work.

Edited to add that's reserved for the weekends.

4. Little chats,

big chats, yellfests, "discussions," workbooks, we've done 'em.

Here's how it goes, I know it by heart:

"Um, you saw Little Moonbeam and I about two hours total last week."

"I can't really help it right now!"

"Why not?"

"WHY are you bitching at me?"

"I'm not bitching at you, I'm just saying your wife and child miss you. Little Moonbeam asked who that man was again (ok I'm making that part up)."

"LOOK, I can't HAVE this conversation right now."

"Fine. I'll stop caring whether I see you or not."

We really are mature adults, this is just one area we haven't quite resolved. He's a workaholic who is working on an hourly basis and allowed unlimited overtime. It's like an alcoholic working in a bar! And his overtime rate rocks. So I'm supposed to feel thankful he makes the money he does, and I am, but um....I forgot what he looks like....

5. Screw that...money's not worth it

He ain't gonna listen to you, but surely there's some way to make him understand that so many things will pass by. Time with the kid(s) and all he'll have to show for it are some old pay stubs. Sorry, but pay stubs are NO substitute for time with the family.
