5. Maybe, and that's final!
When I was teaching, I had a button that said that so any students around my desk could see it.

6. Depends on the question asked.
Edited on Thu Aug-19-04 05:48 AM by DarkPhenyx
Precious few questions that are really worth asking, let alone answering,can be adequately answered by a simple "yes" or "no". Sadly the populace at large, not just in the US but all over, has become dependent on those simple answers. They hate living in a nuanced society where things are complex and they have to think before answering, or think about the answer they were given.

<on edit>

You are, however, required to actually answer the question you were asked. Not give some rambling non-answer crap like we usually hear from our "leaders".

10. If the question
is simple and straightforward and doesn't force someone into a false answer, then yes.

So tell me: If an undocumented alien applies for medical help should he or she be reported and deported?

If you don't want to answer the question, tell me why and explain why the question is unfair.

12. Don't Know Enough About the Alien in Question
But in general no, just showing up for emergency services shouldn't be enough for deportation unless: the alien is a criminal; has TB and is non-compliant about taking meds; alien has antibiotic-resistant TB; alien has committed a non-immigration-status related crime (ANY crime, yes, even speeding); alien is in this country against his/her will,; etc.

13. Unless the Person Asking the Question Is a Lawyer
No one has the right to determine how another person communicates unless the person being subjected to the questions has agreed to place themselves in such a position; to agree to perform according to the other person's rules.

17. No, but it is polite to say yes, no or "I cannot give you an yes/no answer
then if they ask what it is tell them. Don't just launch into a complex answer.
