2. Yeah, it was okay.
I still don't understand Whitewater AT ALL (Jesus, what a mess!) but it was a decent two hours.

3. There was no 'there', there.
I can't wait to see it. I read the book and Jeffrey Toobin's book, 'Vast Conspiracy'. Both were very good.

4. Yea!
That moment was in the film. You get the sense from watching the movie that the cards are TOTALLY stacked against anyone to the left of Jesse Helms who attains any sort of power at all. It's kinda depressing.

After watching it and reading "The Republican Noise Machine," I've totally given up on the mainstream media. 90% of what you see or read out there has been paid for with Scaife/Olin/Heritage, etc. money and therefore only represents republican interests. Occasionally they'll throw us a bone to maintain the illusion of fairness, but we.....we're fighting against an enemy who is too goddamn powerful and has too much money. It looks like within fifty years there'll be complete one-party rule unless we can get some of these Hollywood billionaire liberals to pony up some serious cash and establish some think tanks and "Foundations" of our own.

5. But the media ALWAYS belonged to the rich guys.
Go read some of the reporting on early labor unrest.

8. Yes, but......
Not since that time have the media oligarchs been so obviously partisan and so obviously out to protect corporate interests.

In the sixties and seventies, they let us get away with the Pentagon Papers, Watergate, the (half-assed) Church Committee, etc. There was money to be made on liberalism. The basic national character of those times was liberal; the conservative voice was marginal and unpleasant. I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just saying that we're in the new McKinley era, except on a macro scale.

Have you read "The Republican Noise Machine" yet? Please do.
