Who else loves fog?
We're having a good old fashioned summertime fog here in SF. It's THICK and blowing out there. The trees are acting as moisture traps and the water is just pouring off them like a gentle rain.

Just thought I'd share. :)

1. I do
I love almost every kind of weather, especially the in-your-face and the mood-altering kinds.

2. It's ok, I guess
But I did have a spectacular beach house for the weekend in Mendocino, and it was gray and depressing the whole time. So I don't guess I'm as much of a fan of fog as you are.

Of course, when we drove away from the coast this afternoon, it only took about 2 miles to see blue skies again.

I like to photograph fog when I'm out of it and looking at the edge of the fog bank, as you can often do around San Francisco.

3. I LOVE that particular kind of SF Fog!
Blows in about 3:30 off the bay,; the temperature plummets and the touists are caught unawares in tank tops and shorts while the natives stroll by in sweaters!

Love SF.

6. Except today
It's been here all day. I don't mind though. It was really hot here for about a week. I liked it, but when you don't have a/c you look forward to a few days of nice cold fog. :)

4. MEE!!
Lived in SF for 3 years and adored it. Now I'm in Santa Cruz, with very similar weather. The fog is our friend!

5. I love the SF fog
Every time I go across the GG bridge and see the fog coming in I get excited. I love waking up on summer days to the early morning fog. I lived in Sacto for years and I don't like the Tule Fog. That's depressing.

7. Two types of fog in California
I grew up in southern Marin and love the summertime fog. I think I was fifteen before I fully understood that summers were supposed to be warm. I now live in the Central Valley and despise the winter tule fog that hangs for days and drains both the body and mind of energy. I miss the coastal fog! I miss the foghorns, too.

10. central valley here too
The biggest problem with the tule fog is that most people still want to drive 65+ mph in it!!!!!!!!!

12. I don't like my June gloom fog
I live within a mile from the ocean, it the fog got really draining this year. Oddly enough, on July 1, the clouds just went away. June gloom was done right on schedule. Amazingly punctual.

14. The grass is greener on the foggy side of the fence
Hey, I'll take that June gloom over a month of tule fog any day. I function very well in the costal fog. I experienced it in SF (Sunset), southern Marin (Mill Valley and Sausalito), Monterey, Fort Bragg, and countless days sailing up and down the coast in it. I guess I even embrace it. But the Tule fog really shuts things down when you can't see 100 feet at high noon (maybe ten feet at night) for days and weeks on end. Dangerous as heck to drive in, too!

Why would you choose to live in the central valley vs all the other places you mentioned?

9. I do I do
...except if I have to drive in it. Makes me want to put on a flowing white gown (as in the old horror movies). I love the feel of the mist on my face.

11. I love coastal fog
that rolls in over the hills and down the canyons. It is light and bright and usually is gone by midday. :-)

13. I love fog and mist and rain -- and I'd be up a creek if I didn't, living

in north Georgia. Our normal annual rainfall is like Washington or Oregon and, after several years of drought, we're hsving normal summer rains again. I love looking out windows and seeing mist all around the mountains.

17. Fog is terrific...It kind of baffles sound, and makes it fall flat...
Really enjoy the California coastal fogs -- not crazy about driving in fog, though -- I'd rather be bundled up with a good book when the weather seems to "demand" it!

19. This thread is making me homesick
I've never seen a fog quite like a St. John's one. Like a pea soup, as my mother would say. Sigh. I'm in the middle of a dry spell in the mountains now, and my whole body feels chapped. It's beautiful here -- ah, when the mists roll off the mountains! -- but at this moment, I'd run home in a heartbeat to feel the fog...

20. Yes! I love fog...

... I live out in the San Fernando Valley here in the L.A. area... and sometimes coming through the Sepulveda pass late a night there will be low clouds and thin patches of fog... I love that drive.

23. They ain't no fog like 'the fog' in The City...
Seen it so thick you can't open your car door and see the road; can't walk and see your feet.

~ With a nod into the rear view they are away and rolled along slowly at first as he that did speak with MarBelle gave voice to her in particulars and so does convey them to the same two, the riggers, they that now drive and navigate, “Hey, Rainbow!” “Yeah!” “Get out on ‘the one’ and head south, k?” “Sure. Love to.” still, though every bit as dark as night’s fall; though as well this be early evening; though even as well preceded by their spirits that did then sanction their footings tread, this the leg of this their journey is to be caused by nature too and so in this way effected as to the consumption of by not so much the edicts of mere tic toc time, but rather by the blankets of the willful fog of this region; the fog of renown; the observable characteristics of the weathered such that move upon all things earthly quite apart from the notions of luck or karma. Now that for the black caddy limo’s driver it is known without so saying; ‘steady as she goes’ which with a quick ness becomes the rule with no exception that is then rolled along; slowly. And some times slower still. ~
