Computer/ Tech Help Please....CD-RW question
So, Im new to using CD burner. I have an eMac and I put in a CD-RW and copied some files to it.

Do I mis-understand the nature of CD-RW. Sould I be able to now remove those files from the CD-RW? and burn the CD-RW again?

I cant remove the first files I burned to the CD-RW.

Explain what I need to know please.

Thanks

1. There are two types of CD burners...
There are CD-R drives, that can only write to a CD, and then there are CD-RW drives, that can write and rewrite CD-RWs. Does that help?

2. You have to re-format the CD-RW to make it "clean" again.
Keep in mind that each time you do this, a little more "space" will be lost to keep track of the info until the disk cannot be written to again. It's a couple of hundred times, but it's not like magnetic media where you can just remove a single file.

5. Not real sure...one of the mac techies will have to tell you.
I'm sure it's not difficult. Is there a help file in your software that can give you some more info?

7. Here's how
Edited on Wed Aug-18-04 09:48 PM by Billy Burnett
Go to the Applications folder then,
go to the utilities folder (go ahead and add the utilities folder to your Favorites, makes it quicker)
You'll see the Disk Utility application - launch it

Click on the erase tab and select the CD RW (DO NOT select any other disk, unless you want to go for a long ride into hell)

You can go from there..

Hope this helps

Edit:

If you want to you can click and hold on the Disk Utility icon on the dock and select Keep on Dock to be able to lauch it more easily

3. You should be able to delete files or re format the cd rw.
Simply look at it as another Hard drive.

10. Thats odd
I use Nero and am able to delete anything I can read, as long as the disk is in the cd rw drive!

Make sure the drive is detected and loaded at startup, should be one of the symbols adjacent clock.
