a little mac/netscape info help please
running 8.6 with netscape 4.0

the browser is getting to the point where lots of stuff
doesn't work with it on the net anymore.

What Netscape for mac would be best to upgrade to ?

Seems like there are horror stories about them all.

1. Two Macs ago, I was running 8.6
....and dumping it was my solution. I couldn't make Netscape behave, either. I went to IE then. Moving to an ibook with OS 9 made almost everything better. Moving to a Powerbook with OS X was the best thing I've ever done. Wish I could be more help.

BTW, on the Powerbook - this is the greatest computer on earth -- it hasn't frozen or crashed a single time, and everything about it is effortless.

(I'm adding that because the usual handful of Mac-bashers are about to show up and behave in an asshole-like fashion, sigh.)

4. not mois
I am running a G-4 17 incher laptop with the latest OS. Smoother than the scotch I am drinking.

Truly a machine that does what I want and need it to do. Awesome.

heh heh. Because I must run some MS software, I also run virtual PC Windows XP. It is ok. can't tell the difference between my XP and people running it native. But it do crash as often as the normal XP. That says it all.

2. safari hunts the web better than any
mikrosopft product on windows.
It also beats netscape hands down.

there are one or two others that people have concocted for older operating systems (pre-OS 9) which work really well, but you'd have to go to a listserv or a BB that provides that kind of ancient stuff.

face it. X rocks. Safari does too.

3. switch to Mozilla
www.mozilla.org

Mozilla was made to work with Linux, first, then addapted by the open source community to work with Mac and Windows. It is one of the best (I think) browsers.

5. Not a huge Microsoft Fan but IE for mac is best for non os x macs
IE is best for non Safari / OS X.

OS X is the best thing that has happened to the Mac in a very long time.

It had some growing pains but it has paid off.

I have a Gateway Laptop with XP but only use it if I have to run a Windows only program otherwise I never run it.

OS X is awesome it gets better every upgrade.

7. I disagree...for Mac's that do not run OS X it is the best option.
IE runs faster on OS 8/9 than Mozilla or netscape.

8. This was also my experience.
On OS X, Safari and Mozilla (or both at once ) now rock my world.

9. Mine too.
I tried Netscape, Opera, and iCab for my old iMac with OS 9.0.1. IE was better than any of them.

But I'm lovin' Safari on my Powerbook. I'm also pretty fond of Opera.
