I gave my baby an eviction notice.
;-)

My baby is in breech position. He also is estimated to weigh about 8 pounds already. I've been doing special exercises, and talking to him, and even asked for a Lounge Karmic Focus to get him to turn around, but he doesn't want to turn. After discussing many options, we decided to go ahead and schedule a C-Section. If he turns around before then, we'll just cancel it. But if he doesn't turn around, he's comin' out anyway on September 13th, and I'll tell ya', I'm ready.

I really had my heart set on a natural delivery, but at this point, I'm so huge and sore and worn out, I'm glad to have a a date that we're just going to call it.

I'm still doing my pelvic tilts and other safe, natural tactics for getting him to turn, so we'll see.

Anyway, that's the update.

:hi:

9. Some babies are just
stubborn. Presumably you're doing everything possible to turn this child around. If you can hook up with a midwife who does home births, she may be able to help. No, I'm not suggesting you consider a home birth for yourself, but someone who attends them will be very much in tune with what a pregnant woman's body -- and the baby inside -- are doing, how they are working together.

My first stayed in a breech position until fairly late, about six weeks before he was born. One evening he decided to turn around, and that was that. I was lucky, because I wasn't doing anything special to make it happen.

Good luck to you.

13. Well, he's favored my left side for most of the pregnancy...
...so I'm thinking he's a lefty.

My OB says that sometimes babies can tell there's something not right about the pelvis, and are resistant to turn. I was still using a cane after my pelvic fractures when I got pregnant, so that might have something to do with it.

But sometimes it does feel like he's trying to come out the wrong end.

12. My son stayed breech through the whole preg, until the last week...
and then he turned.

Don't give up hope on a natural delivery. It is still possible.

Conratulations, by the way! :-)

14. Thanks.
That's what I'm hoping. But I do feel good about having the c-section scheduled. I don't want to go into labor with him in the wrong position and then not know which of my 4 doctors I'm going to end up with, possibly need an emergency c-section on a full stomach, etc.

But he may turn at the last minute. He could be a procrastinator like his parents.

16. Midwives are really good at turning babies,
and I've been told by a midwife that they always do it slowly and gently, not a "wham, bam, thank you mam, pay me please" method like the doctors, which I have also heard is painful.

I've also heard of chiropractic and acupuncture successfully turning breech babies.

Hey, what ever happens, good luck!

30. You're doing great.
I'll be holding your cyber hand should you get to deliver him without the c-section. My two were 8 1/2 lbs and 9 lbs 3 oz.
Gives new meaning to the word "labor." He's not going to fit in the newborn/infant size for long!

28. You could try a chiropractor.
Some do a technique called the Webster Technique which has success in getting breech babies to turn.

If all else fails, I know how you feel. I wanted a natural delivery everytime, but I had these big, short fat babies with of the chart craniums that kept getting stuck (the last time involving a 3 day latent phase and a 12 hour transition before the c-section), so I know how it feels to really want the natural delivery and not getting it. It's hard. :(
My c-section advice is resume eating slowly and walk as soon as possible. It gets things moving and helps you heal faster. I'll still give you some baby turning vibes though for a little while longer.

32. Pelvic tilts are good things
They're part of the back exercises I was given when I was 16. They're one of the things I can do any day I can make it to the floor. (There aren't that many days I can do that.)

Our baby is bigger than you were. With another month to go, he's nearly a pound more than you were. (Ouch!)

Would you tell that wonderful grandson of mine that my brother was breach? He wasn't taken by C-section. The cord was wrapped around his neck and his father didn't even know he was alive for four hours. They don't do things that way any more.

I'll be there for you. The more help you need, the more time I get to hold my grandson. ;-)

I'll never forget the day my son finally decided to turn and insert himself into the torpedo chute.

It felt like I had a gymnast in my stomach doing a few somersaults but using my bladder for leverage.

My best friend in the world was born on Sept. 13th and she is one ultra cool babe! All the omens are good. Take care.

42. I'm sending some good karma your way
That last month of pregnancy really sucks, doesn't it? I never felt comfortable. Fortunately it's all worth it.

On the bright side though, if he stays stubborn and doesn't turn, then you'll have a great guilt story for when he refuses to clean his room.

My sister-in-law had a c-section because her son didn't turn and even though it wasn't how she wanted to do it, she was happy that he had a perfectly round head and an unsmooshed face. Made for some good photos. :) The trick is to always look for the positive I guess.
