Lets talk Brazilian music! Who's your favorite? What's big on the scene?
Brazilians or anybody else!

Me I'm listening to a lot of Caetano Velosa, Os Mutantes, Bebel Gilberto, Atrud, Jobim...

José loves Djavan and all those named above.

Who do I need to know about?

1. I don't know about anything new, but I agree with those you listed!
And I'll add Gilberto Gil and Gal Costa in the '60s tropicalia vein and Bola Sete for some amazing Jazz guitar.

Os Mutantes, in moderation.

I'm not terribly familiar with contemporary Brazilian music.

absolutely amazing -- it fuses bossa nova with current electronic sounds -- killer vibe -- very trippy, stoney, jazzy, ambient, current Brazilian dj's mixing it all up

This is a "comeback," but it's loaded with great songs. Very listenable all the way through.

27. The general manager of my college radio station...
...vacations in Brazil every year. While there, he always buys tons of great CDs, which he then plays on his World Music show. Unfortunately, I can't readily recall the names of any of the artists he has played, but it sure is nice stuff!
