Look at me posting on my NEW home 'puter
Just got it last night. God AOL is everywherebut we avoided that trap and signed up on MSN. Any better ISP's out there? For dial-up?

hp pavilion home PC
3200 AMD Athlon 64 processor
512 MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM memory
160 GB 7200RPM ultra DMA hard drive
DVD+RW/CD-RW 16X max speed

Whatever the hell all that means.

Still using the old monitor (them things is essspensive) and speakers.

We were actually able to watch a video ( www.whitehousewest.com ) last night-we never were able to fully download anything on the old Gateway stack.

it's got a really cool up and down sliding door to cover all the ports- including the ones we will probably never use- but I think one of the cats pulled it open last night while we slept.

:bounce::party:Whooooooooooohooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!:bounce::party:

I hope it serves you well!

Getting a new computer is one of the greatest joys known to mankind.

Or at least to geek-kind such as myself. :bounce:

12. We don't even get 'Call Notes'...

:eyes:

And the cost of cable is not supported until I get a new machine - my 1997-model vintage Dell running Windows 95 is just not worth it. :)

(Ever wonder why I post almost exclusively during business hours on weekdays? My employer does.) :)

13. I understand completely.
You can get a newer model Dell for not too much cash. I had to buy one after my old 'puter died. There's a shop here that sells refurbished Dells. I got a Pentium III 650, 10gig HD, DVD drive and CD burner for $249.

14. Pfffft!!
<spit take> $249???

That's worth a trip to Austin in itself! (Not that going just to see my DU buddies isn't sufficient, mind you)

15. All I can say is
It zips around as fast as my computer at work which in on DSL or Cable or whatever. I don't see a difference that is worth it, at least with the new computer.

22. The old one is DEAD-didn't keep a lot on it-got a jumpdrive though.
Most any work type stuff we did at home we saved to disk or my wife e-mailed to herself.

She DID buy a jumpdrive-256 MB of memory and it is about the size of a large cigarette lighter. We will be saving stuff onto that.
