Poll question: Favorite LOTR or Silmarillon character?
Miniluvamericahatebush here, and to celebrate my third reading of the Silmarillon, I have decided to make this poll.

(NOTE: Silmarillon, hecka hard.)

2. Way cool choice
Boromir was not invulnerable to the lure of the ring ... but a man of honor nonetheless.

4. Beren, who stole a Silmaril from the Iron Crown of Morgoth
He was bad. No one else ever did that. It's not like you go to bowling league and say, "I stole a Silmaril from Morgoth." The fuck you did. But Beren did.

14. Couldn't 'a done it without Luthien.
Beren was a totally helpless prisoner until Luthien overpowered Morgoth and rescued him. She did everything besides actually remove the jewell.

Luthien rocks!

9. You. Read. Silmarillion. Three. Times. ??
That's like reading the Los Angeles Phone Book. I have never gotten through it. :wow:

But just to make you jealous, I own a First Edition British Printing by Houghton Mifflin Company, complete with all the maps and the original cover jacket. Neener neener! :P

But I've never read it, so I'm in awe of your accomplishment.

My fave character? Treebeard. :D

13. Well, hard choice

I went with Aragorn, because I can still ALMOST recite the moment when he faces the riders of Rohan and says "I am Aragorn, son of Arathorn, Dunadan, heir to Isildur of Gondor , called Estel...are you with me or against me, choose swiftly!" (not an exact quote, from memory). But Legolas ranks high, and of course, Gandalf.

I have never understood the appeal of Bombadil, nor Goldberry...that section of the book always seemed contrived to me...and yes, I am a child of the 60's, but Tolkein wasn't.

edit: typo
