Pro sports rant -- add yours to the pile.
Okay, here's my thing. I'm a Celtics fan, and it's just not cool to admit that anymore, but anyway...

Gary Payton gets traded to Boston, and I'm feeling mildly excited. Then, I remember that he's old, and hasn't been "The Glove" in some time, but hey! It's Payton.

Then, 'doh! No, he's not coming here. Why? Because Ainge screwed another deal? No, not this time. This time it's because Payton simply doesn't want to come here. Huh? And he's publicly stated that he doesn't even have anything against Boston, but he's pissed at the Lakers and wants to work a better deal for himself. He's pissed because the Lakers didn't tell him that he'd better look out for himself!

Now, I don't make anywhere near the fucking truckloads of money that this ass clown does, but I also don't EXPECT my employer to protect me. I figure that if I go to work and do a good job, I'll continue to have a job. If I don't perform up to expectations, I expect to get my freakin' walking papers. This is precisely what happened to Payton, and he somehow perceives this as a slight from LA? A disrespectful gesture? FUCK HIM!

Between Randy Johnson, Ken Griffey Jr., Shaq, and the rest of 'em, I've just had enough of these overinflated douchebags shitting on their games in the interest of themselves.

And finally, I want to note that I'm a players guy. I mean, I honestly think that they deserve the money that they make. If the market will bear it, then they should earn. Certainly, they are the main attraction, and I can see no sense in allowing already rich assholes get more wealthy off of their labor. I've never once paid a ticket price to see an owner in action! The players deserve it, but that said, why do these whiny bitches still have to complain about respect, and loyalty and yada, yada, yada?? They're greedy (and wonderfully talented) whores. Shut up and earn yer money!

And.....I'm spent.

1. Al Davis . . .
He's a snake. He's a snake. He's a snake.

He's wrecked the Raiders in so many ways, it'll take 'me 10 years to dig out of it.

3. Oh, don't get me started on Selig. This guy is just bad for the game.
How the hell has he been allowed to continue double-dipping for so long. Okay, so I know that his daughter owns the team *wink, wink* but really.

Am I correct that he also snaked the people there for public funding for that awesome new park? What a tragedy to get such a great place for the public to watch such shitty baseball. Although...there are signs of improvement.

6. I know what a scam
Get the tax payers to build a new stadium, then try to sell the team for a better price. Selig SUCKS!!!!

We had a glimmer of hope this year, but since the All-star break the Crew have been back into the toilet!

5. Baseball used to be "America's Passtime"
Now it's just another sleazy big business. There used to be at least a facade of fun but now it's just greedy owners imposing their will on greedy spoiled players. If I had to choose sides though I'd side with the players. They know they are only a commodity and as soon as their stats go down they are tossed on the trash heap.

Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio? Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you.

7. Steve Phillips...
Edited on Tue Aug-17-04 12:10 AM by Cousinit13
and for those who are unfamiliar with him, he is the Mets ex-GM that brought you such stinkers like Mo Vaughn who played about 50 games for the Mets before completely crapping out. Roberto Alomar, Jeromy Burnitz (part duex) Roger Cedeno, and other over payed busts. After 2000, my team has not been the same. In 2001 we had what looked like a killer line-up on paper, but they were all over the hill, over payed players that just plain sucked. I don't know what exactly happened to the Mets the last four years, but I blame Steve Phillips!

On edit:
Don't even get me started on what happened to the Giants last season! Lets just hope Eli will be our saving grace, even though I know that if we ever want to get better we need to improve the O-line.

Yeah I know when I talk about my teams I say we...I can't help myself!

8. oh i hear you on phillips. did you hear when he was commentating
on some recent day game i think.... they were in say, cincinnati, and they had a brief segment where a young fan got to ask phillips a baseball question.

he asked him what happened to the mets??!! and of course steve says (as he is laughing) well.. they got rid of their general manager

he was pretty bad.
i was mortified when he brought alomar in. and if i see alomar dive headfirst one more time into first base it will be too soon

9. He actually said that?
:puke: He should have went before Bobby V.

But I think that the Mets are finally turning the corner, I like what David Wright has to offer, as well as Reyes (if he stays healthy) I like the fact that the left side of our infield is barely old enough to drink! I hope that they can put up some big numbers for many years to come.

10. Chicago.
Forget the Bulls and the six championships....that was fluke in the scheme of Chicago sports history.

Chicago has the worst owners in America...

The McCaskey Family...won't give up controll, know nothing about football.

Bill Wirtz: Won't broadcast home games. Refuses to go for a cup.

Jerry Reinsdorf & Co.: Have no clue about basketball, and will not ever ever spend money for pitching. Ever.

The Tribune Co.: Makes money off of Wrigley Field. Don't care about how the team finishes.
