Bad news

This morning I found out that one of the kids I grew up with was killed in Iraq the night before. He was about 24. He joined ROTC to help pay for his studies at Dickinson. He ended up staying in the military for a career. His parents are crushed. They never seemed too keen on his vocational choice from the beginning. They are good people and it saddens me greatly to see the good man that they had worked so hard to raise lose his life for no good reason. It was a waste of a fine human being. A mother and father lost their son, a sister lost her brother and a young woman lost her husband. It is a shame.
