Update on my family in Florida

I heard from my momma last night who had heard from my brother and he and his wife and son are fine. The electricity is out (like in so much of Florida) but they have a portable generator so they're good. The worst of the damage was a little leak in the ceiling in their living room.

Great story...they went across the street and rode the storm out with a neighbor who opened up his home because it's made from concrete and a bit safer. After the storm passed they all grabbed steaks and whatnot out of the freezer and cooked out on the grill. Had a little "we survived the hurricane" party. I think that says something neat about the human spirit. :)

on edit: Meant to add this when I posted. I want to thank everyone who replied to my thread yesterday or who sent me pms to tell me they were thinking about me and my family and hoping for the best. It meant the world to me. Reminded me why I love DU and the people here. You guys ROCK! :grouphug:

My uncle lives on the keys down there and they had to evac last summer I believe.

4. Yes, that is double trouble. I still have not heard from my sister after

evacuation. She called me on her cell phone early yesterday morning and I have not heard anything since. I know she will be okay, but she has two cats that scream all the time. I think I may have tried to stick it out. Buster, who weighs about 30 lbs. sat in her lap while she was driving.
