There was a guy at San Diego dressed like Uncle Sam. If you did stop to talk to him, or at least hear what he was saying, you would’ve learned that he was pushing a book called Tex!, subtitled: “George Bush and the Fine Art of Character Assassination.”

Simply put, it’s the story of George Bush as a superhero (complete with a miniature Donald Rumsfeld on his back directing his actions). On the surface, it looks like a slam – something conservative pundits would dismiss out of hand. But that’s the surface.

Digging into Tex! A little reveals it’s written by Joshua (Violent Messiahs, Swamp Thing) Dysart, illustrated by Brad Rader, comes with a free CD, and, perhaps even more surprising, contains a five-page appendix in the back, providing facts to back up the satire in the front.

As Dysart describes the book in a mailer: "TEX! is a product that we're all mighty proud of. A 24-page comic book about George Bush as a super hero. Using the language of conservatism to attack the neocons, it's our little bundle of political satire, as well as a quick and thorough education on the Bush administration's acts of criminal politics (with an exhaustively researched five page appendix which graces the back).
