5. In A'Dam the winters are remarkably mild
Warm air from the Gulf Streams makes it very hospitable

More rain that snow and everything is nice and green all year long

10. Let me see If I can answer a few of these . .
IMHO

yes, winters kind of suck . . i was there until about Dec. 20th one year,

yes you can stay stoned if you'd like, but actually once the novelty wears off, it's just one of the very cool things you can do in the Netherlands, and you'll find that since it's no longer taboo, a lot of the Dutch don't get high much when they're older, some do .

cats are fine, but it is a pretty crowded country, my friend in Zanvoort had 2 cats, however your cats may have to pull their weight, i.e., a little mousing would put them in higher regard, as the Dutch appreciate self sufficiency.

4. I can't vote, because
I'm just visualizing walking out of Central Station trying to decide, Hmmm . . should I go back to the Van Gogh, or maybe have a Shoarma at "Jimmy's" the little shop owned by Jimmy, an Israeli, on the Wormoestraat. Then perhaps I'll slide over to the Grasshopper for a beer or coffee, and then I might stop in the Stone's cafe.

Ah decisions, decisions. And tonight I'll take the train through Haarlem out to Zanvoort for a wicked dance party on the beach? and maybe just a stopover at Yanks!

9. Other....the pilings that hold the place up!!
I heard a report on Radio Netherlands months ago, about how Amsterdam is built on pilings. Right now, they're injecting concrete to shore the whole place up where they're building a subway... as they lay out the tunnels, they're going along and reinforcing all the pilings so that the old buildings don't sink and get structurally damaged.......

I have a word of warning for anyone heading to Amsterdam and going to those famous coffeehouses: Careful when you get out and try to find your way back to your hotel - the streets all run in a circle, and the street signs are in Dutch! lol

24. Laid Back Environment
When we visited the Netherlands back in ‘94 we loved the openness of their society . It gave us a feeling of what it would have been like to live in a place that gave more than lip service to tolerance.

IJsselmeer formerly called the Zuiderzee

Volendam

Edam

48. Did someone say SEX!

This is the first site people see coming off the Damrak(the main street) into the red light district. That's my favorite "shoarma" stand just to the left of Chickita's. This place offers the best people watching on the planet! Most tourists enter the "Red Light" en masse, so to see a group of old ladies gather around the window with the big dildos is kind of funny. It's especially great when they turn around and notice the nice decoration on the wall of the bar behind them. The bar's called "The Cockring". Oh my :scared:
